They could not find their way through the mighty Aw Keng Chuan, who acted as an effective roadblock on Grilled's defensive midfield. Some good play on the left wing created an opportunity for the visitors 30 minutes into the match, and Omar Lyhstål wasn't about to let it go by. He got past the defenders and fired a shot that the keeper just missed. 0 - 1 for the visitors. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for Grilled, as they moved the ball from the wings to the middle with startling regularity. After 37 minutes of play, Aw Keng Chuan evened things up for Grilled with an impressive goal coming up the middle. 1 - 1. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 1. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 54 percent of the ball.

53 minutes of the match played, and a comedy of errors by the home side gave the visitors a chance at the lead, but Joel Örnman, after finding himself dashing down on goal from the left with only the keeper to beat, sliced his shot horribly wide. 60 minutes into the game, Springboks wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
