It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 3-5-2 formation while the visitors instead opted for 2-5-3.
Grilled mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle, taking advantage of their
divine (+7) level with that tactic. 0 - 1 was the score with 14 minutes played, after
Chia Kwang Tse cut through the central defence and chipped home a goal for
Grilled. It was obvious that team
Grilled had instructions to attack in the middle instead of on the wings. After 21 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for
Hwang Teck Fu who increased
Grilled's lead to 0 - 2.
Angelo 'Del Piero' Dal Prà of
(L) was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. Had it not been for one of the home defenders,
Darko 'Donnie' Andrović would have put
Grilled up another goal 30 minutes into the match with his audacious lob from the right wing.
Shareef 'Sheriff' Murjan did everything he could to get one back for his
(L), but keeper
Radomil Marcol denied him with a spectacular block. The crowd was amused as
Jon Ander 'El loco' Goicolea of
(L) used a few interesting tricks and dribbles to get into the penalty box. The finish by
Shareef 'Sheriff' Murjan wasn't very amusing, however, as the ball flew way over the crossbar. 0 - 2 was the score after the first half.
Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 59 percent.
As the 46 minute mark approached, the
Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution.
Aw Keng Chuan reluctantly made way for
元気 (Genki) 長野 (Nagano) on the pitch. The home side worked their way through the middle and almost got one back when
Jon Ander 'El loco' Goicolea tried to sneak the ball past the keeper.
Radomil Marcol was too alert for that!
Greg 'Swissmad' Viez kept the home side in the game with a magnificent save when
Raúl Himadas delivered an almost perfect free kick to the far post.
Raúl Himadas could have added one to the visitors' lead if his free kick had gone just a little lower. 80 minutes into the game,
Grilled were awarded a penalty and
Raúl Himadas was able to increase the visitors' lead to 0 - 3 rolling the ball in by the right post. The visitors nearly scored again after 81 minutes, but a superb save by
Greg 'Swissmad' Viez kept
Raúl Himadas's free kick out of the net.
Hwang Teck Fu received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 84 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 4. The
Grilled fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early.
Gandhik Chitre laid it on a plate with that delivery! 89 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a
Grilled substitution.
Mohd Marzuki Khairul came on for
Lim An Keng.
Darko 'Donnie' Andrović would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise.
Paulino Trindade entered the game for
Grilled as the match clock showed 89 minutes. It was announced by the referee that he estimated stoppage time to be around 1 minute. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! The match ends 0 - 4.
Grilled had most of the ball, with 58 percent of possession.
(L)'s best player was
Greg 'Swissmad' Viez.
Grilled's top performer was clearly
Hwang Teck Fu.
