The teams had chosen different formations for the match. Home team
Grilled Birds went for 2-5-3 while
Flights International Football School has decided to play a 3-5-2 lineup.
Grilled used their
divine (+7) ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings.
Grilled took the lead after 14 minutes as a result of
Hwang Teck Fu's peach of a shot from the right hand side of the box - placed beautifully in the top corner. 1 - 0. The referee was not popular with the home supporters after he awarded
FIFS a controversial penalty after 35 minutes.
Aggelos Kourmouzis made no mistake, levelling the score at 1 - 1.
FIFS's
Michael Kendale finished emphatically to make the score 1 -2 after 37 minutes, after the enigmatic
Elói Sim-Sim pulled a delightful long pass from his box of tricks to bypass the defence.
Chad Thach showed the skills that make him a real crowd pleaser as he, after 39 minutes, wove through the guests' entire central defence and put the 2 - 2 equaliser away. The home crowd was not impressed by the fancy moves of
FIFS's
Fernando Di Nardo after 40 minutes. He converted a pass from the left for a goal, resulting in the visitors taking the 2 - 3 lead. The visitors'
Michael Kendale took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 41 minutes into the match. 2 - 4 for
FIFS. 2 - 4 was the halftime score. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by
FIFS, with 51 percent of the ball.
A drive down the left side allowed
Giorgio Magrini to get in close and score another goal for
FIFS after 48 minutes, taking the score to 2 - 5. After 56 minutes
Chia Kwang Tse could have reduced the lead with a blistering strike from the left wing, had it not been for an excellent block by the visitors' keeper.
Aggelos Kourmouzis could have put his team up another goal 57 minutes into the game, after a rush down the left, but his closing shot hit the post.
Hwang Teck Fu challenged the visitors' central defence eagerly, producing a good chance 59 minutes into the game as he went for a through ball. But, as so many times before, the guests' defensive efforts got the best of it.
Michael Kendale received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 68 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 2 - 6. The
FIFS fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. That made three goals for
Michael Kendale and he was marked down for the hat trick. After 89 minutes, the
Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
Raúl Himadas off the field.
Damian Hutter took his place. As
Raúl Himadas left the field, the coach signaled to
Brian 'Was Born' Reddy to be the new set pieces taker. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 2 minutes beyond the regular 90 minutes. The match ends 2 - 6.
FIFS had most of the ball, with 54 percent of possession.
Most important
Grilled player was
Chad Thach.
Michael Kendale performed admirably for
FIFS.
