It was a sunny day at the stadium today. It was a very hot day and some players suffered from this, especially those relying on tough physical play or a lot of fast runs. For the technical ones, on the other hand, this was ideal conditions. The following players had been chosen by
Grilled:
Marcol -
Himadas,
其材 (Qicai) -
Reddy,

The teams had chosen different formations for the match. Home team
Grilled Birds went for 2-5-3 while
Meadow Pond has decided to play a 3-5-2 lineup.
Grilled clearly preferred using their
divine (+5) ability to attack in the middle. The wings were the focus of most of
Ponds's attacks on this day, taking advantage of their
divine (+1) level with that tactic. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for
Grilled, as they moved the ball from the wings to the middle with startling regularity. After a fine move down the middle
Hwang Teck Fu nearly gave the home side a goal after 2 minutes. However the finishing shot went just wide. 23 minutes into the match,
Ponds nearly took the lead, as
Iakovos Papettas broke through on the right.
Radomil Marcol made the save, however. The bicycle kick from
Brian 'Was Born' Reddy would have been the Goal of the Year for
Grilled, had it not hit the post.
Grilled were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up centrally. Some great play up the middle by
Grilled led to a chance for
Mohd Marzuki Khairul to score after 40 minutes, but the shot hit the crossbar. With the clock showing 41 minutes played, a great pass from the defensive line of
Ponds resulted in a counterattack that was smoothly brought under control by
Obats Arteabarro in the centre of the opposition's penalty area, but his finish went high. After 43 minutes,
Grilled's
Chad Thach surprised everyone as he managed to intercept a pass intended for the opposing keeper and flip it in, making the score 1 - 0.
Ahmet Fahri Hayme was doing a great job on his wing, sending in brilliant passes to his teammates in the middle, but
Obats Arteabarro seemed unable to profit from this excellent service. The crowd was silenced 43 minutes into the match as the visiting team's
Ionuţ-Marius Arsenie came in from the left, levelling the score to 1 - 1. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 1. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by
Grilled, with 62 percent of the ball.
46 minutes into the game,
Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
夏 (Ha) 其材 (Qicai) gave
Aw Keng Chuan a quick hug as he left the field. As the captain was no longer on the pitch,
Darko 'Donnie' Andrović took over the role of being the
Grilled captain. As the 50 minute mark approached, the
Ponds coach decided it was time for a substitution.
Ahmet Fahri Hayme reluctantly made way for
Jore Viikki on the pitch. After 55 minutes, the
Ponds coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
Ionuţ-Marius Arsenie off the field.
Luis Germán took his place. The referee signaled a penalty for the home side after 82 minutes, amid vocal protests from the visitors.
Grilled fans erupted in celebration as
Raúl Himadas rifled the ball into the the top corner. 2 - 1! Cheers filled the stadium as
Gandhik Chitre broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 3 - 1 to
Grilled. A well-executed free kick by
Raúl Himadas after 86 minutes made it 4 - 1 for
Grilled.
Raúl Himadas would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise.
Damian Hutter entered the game for
Grilled as the match clock showed 89 minutes. With
Raúl Himadas no longer on the pitch,
元気 (Genki) 長野 (Nagano) took over free kick duty. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 1 minute beyond the regular 90 minutes. The match ends 4 - 1.
Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 62 percent of possession.
Most important
Grilled player was
Gandhik Chitre.
Ponds's top performer was clearly
Simone Canfora.
