The fans at the stadium today were roasting in the hot sun. It was a sunny day and the Technical players could roll the ball around with ease. Those that had to chase after the ball found the weather less appealing, it especially stymied the game of Powerful and Quick players. The following players had been chosen by
Sk.St.Magdalena:
Thierie -
Dujmović,
Zeitlberger,
Brunner -
Lamal,
Keller,
Stern,
Wildner,
Kölmel -
Mwaura,
Fuchs.
Grilled's lineup was:
Marcol -
Himadas,
其材 (Qicai) -
Reddy,
Thach,
Keng Chuan,
An Keng,
Andrović -
Kwang Tse,
Khairul,
Teck Fu.
It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 3-5-2 formation while the visitors instead opted for 2-5-3.
Grilled tried to focus their attacks down the middle, taking advantage of their
divine (+5) level with that tactic.
Marian Keller would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise.
Valerio Milano entered the game for
Sk.St.Magdalena as the match clock showed 1 minutes. As
Marian Keller left the field, the coach signaled to
Nico-Jan Kölmel to be the new set pieces taker.
Sk.St.Magdalena broke through on the left 11 minutes into the game, with
Philipp Fuchs firing in from an acute angle to give the home side a 1 - 0 lead.
Grilled levelled the score after 15 minutes to make it 1 - 1, as
Mohd Marzuki Khairul struck home after a fine midfield combination through the centre, which left him completely unmarked. 18 minutes into the match,
Grilled nearly took the lead, as
夏 (Ha) 其材 (Qicai) broke through on the right.
Pieter Thierie made the save, however.
Raúl Himadas gave the visitors the lead 20 minutes into the match to make it 1 - 2. The goal was scored from the penalty spot after a handball in the penalty area.
Hwang Teck Fu came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over
Pieter Thierie but overcooked it and hit the bar instead. With 25 minutes played,
Grilled put themselves up 1 - 3 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was
Chia Kwang Tse. 1 - 3 was the score after the first half. Possession in this half belonged to
Grilled, who controlled the ball 62 percent of the time.
After 48 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave
Chia Kwang Tse a chance to increase the lead for
Grilled, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 1 - 4.
Karlo Dujmović received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly 60 minutes into the match, probably out of lack of experience, and almost let an opponent score. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for
Grilled, as they moved the ball from the wings to the middle with startling regularity. The visitors'
Chia Kwang Tse took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 62 minutes into the match. 1 - 5 for
Grilled. That was his third goal of the match - a hat trick for
Chia Kwang Tse.
Darko 'Donnie' Andrović received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 68 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 1 - 6. The
Grilled fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early.
Grilled were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up centrally. With 73 minutes played,
Lim An Keng nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar. After 85 minutes, the
Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
Darko 'Donnie' Andrović off the field.
Paulino Trindade took his place. As the 85 minute mark approached, the
Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution.
Mohd Marzuki Khairul reluctantly made way for
Gandhik Chitre on the pitch. 89 minutes into the game,
Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Aw Keng Chuan gave
Damian Hutter a quick hug as he left the field. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 3 minutes of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. The match ends 1 - 6.
Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 62 percent.
Sk.St.Magdalena's top performer was clearly
Philipp Fuchs.
Grilled's best player was
Chia Kwang Tse.
