For their match strategy, Sailors had decided to use their mythical ability to counter-attack whenever possible. Grilled used their divine (+6) ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. Grilled were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up centrally. 35 minutes into the game, Brian 'Was Born' Reddy almost gave the visitors the lead, as he clipped a delicate lob over the keeper, but the ball glanced harmlessly off the crossbar. The referee showed Grilled's Gandhik Chitre the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for Grilled, as they moved the ball from the wings to the middle with startling regularity. The visiting Gandhik Chitre was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 39 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 0 - 1 was the score. The referee signalled a penalty 42 minutes into the game following an offence which looked like it was outside the box. Raúl Himadas knocked it home to make the score 0 - 2. Grilled increased the lead to 0 - 3 as Raúl Himadas scored from the penalty spot, putting the ball in near the top left corner. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 3. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 72 percent of the time.

With 66 minutes played, Hwang Teck Fu nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar. Sailors were great at switching from defence to attack, and after 67 minutes, Tatos Karapetyan swept through the middle on a counterattack, making the score 1 - 3. Hwang Teck Fu received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 68 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 1 - 4. The Grilled fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. The game was close to savage at times, and Grilled's Gandhik Chitre received a second yellow card after 76 minutes; his ticket out of the game. With the clock showing 78 minutes played, a great pass from the defensive line of Sailors resulted in a counterattack that was smoothly brought under control by Phua Yau Jia in the centre of the opposition's penalty area, but his finish went high. 80 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution. Paulino Trindade came on for Darko 'Donnie' Andrović. After 89 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving Aw Keng Chuan off the field. Kendell El Khateeb took his place. 89 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Raúl Himadas gave Markus Pallas a quick hug as he left the field. With Raúl Himadas no longer on the pitch, Markus Pallas became the new set pieces taker. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 2 minutes beyond the regular 90 minutes.
