Clear skies welcomed the 56326 spectators who had made their way to The Cooking Pot. Dadaxon Sobirov was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Jaroslav Šaloun and Francisco Bassa. Grilled's lineup was: Marcol - Himadas, 其材 (Qicai) - Reddy, Khairul, Keng Chuan, Kwang Tse, Andrović - Thach, Chitre, An Keng.

The following players had been chosen by Merlions: Abelin - Naim, Vărzaru, Varila - Roudier, Stockwell, Ramanayake, Blankenstein, Lieuw Fat - Cută, Gallartzagoitia.

Grilled Birds started the game in a 2-5-3 formation, whereas West Merlions lined up in a 3-5-2 formation. A mistake by the home side's central defence after 6 minutes allowed Nicolae-Cristian Cută to score for Merlions. The scoreboard now read 0 - 1. A well-timed setup from Juuso Varila preceded the goal. 14 minutes in, Grilled's Chad Thach received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. 20 minutes into the game, Darko 'Donnie' Andrović came close to levelling the score with a dangerous shot from the centre of the area that went just over the bar. Grilled's Brian 'Was Born' Reddy made an attempt at equalising 23 minutes into the match, coming in from the right, but the ball hit the post and the defence easily cleared the rebound. With 24 minutes played, Grilled's Chia Kwang Tse found an opening in the visitors' left side defence, but his shot was handled easily by the keeper. It was 0 - 1 at the break. Grilled had most of the ball, with 53 percent of possession.

51 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 2 as Nicolae-Cristian Cută finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. Grilled's Brian 'Was Born' Reddy found himself alone on the left side 60 minutes into the match and laid down a perfect shot - right into the arms of the keeper! 61 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution. Hwang Teck Fu came on for Aw Keng Chuan. A well placed corner kick from Raúl Himadas was followed by Lim An Keng's hard but accurate header. The well executed routine resulted in a goal for Grilled, the score now 1 - 2. Gavin Stockwell received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 68 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 1 - 3. The Merlions fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. Some fine movement on the left led to a Merlions goal after 69 minutes, making it 1 - 4. Juuso Varila was noted down as the scorer. As the 89 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution. 夏 (Ha) 其材 (Qicai) reluctantly made way for Mohsen El Khateeb on the pitch. It was announced by the referee that he estimated stoppage time to be around 1 minute. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! 89 minutes into the match, Grilled's Chad Thach collected a ball sent down the right and put it in the back of the net, narrowing the score to 2 - 4. The match ends 2 - 4. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 53 percent of the ball.

Grilled's best player was Lim An Keng. The most dominating Merlions player was without a doubt Nicolae-Cristian Cută.
