Clear skies welcomed the 65906 spectators who had made their way to the newbies ground. Cirilo Aguilar was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Jamal Dabaja and Hannes Kiivramees. Everyone was excited about the upcoming Jurong derby and the crowd was divided evenly. The following players had been chosen by newbies: Gasparroni - Gardner, Eutiner, Gibson - Da Hui, Zakwan, Meng Heng, Choon An, Kim Tse - Chu Chao, Kong Su.

Grilled's lineup was: Marcol - Himadas, 其材 (Qicai) - Reddy, Khairul, Keng Chuan, Kwang Tse, Teck Fu - Thach, Chitre, An Keng.

newbies are newbies fielded a 3-5-2 lineup. For Grilled Birds, the formation of choice was 2-5-3. newbies created a good opportunity to score 18 minutes into the match when Li Choon An's hooked ball from the left created a scuffle in front of the goal, and the visitors' defenders had a hard time clearing the ball. With 24 minutes played, the home side managed to get a 1 - 0 lead as Au Kong Su flipped the ball in after a cross from the right. newbies managed to extend their lead to 2 - 0 when Au Kong Su cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. Romeo Gasparroni made a brilliant save 35 minutes into the match, blocking a rocket of a shot from Aw Keng Chuan on the right hand side. Cheers filled the stadium as Li Choon An broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 3 - 0 to newbies. Tan Chu Chao could have increased the lead after 38 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park. 3 - 0 was the score after the first half. Possession in this half belonged to newbies, who controlled the ball 53 percent of the time.

60 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution. Paulino Trindade came on for Hwang Teck Fu. A corner kick by Raúl Himadas created great disorder in the penalty area. As pandemonium set in, and with a bit of luck, Grilled's Mohd Marzuki Khairul was able to shove the ball in to the back of the net as the ball landed in front of him. 3 - 1. newbies's Zhong Kim Tse swung in a good chance from the left, but the visitors' defence were able to clear the ball. After 72 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by Au Kong Su might have resulted in another goal for newbies. However, Radomil Marcol made a spectacular save. Things were deteriorating for the away team as newbies scored another to make it 4 - 1 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for Li Choon An after 77 minutes. As the 89 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution. Raúl Himadas reluctantly made way for Damian Hutter on the pitch. As Raúl Himadas left the field, the coach signaled to Aw Keng Chuan to be the new set pieces taker. The referee announced 1 minute of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. The match ends 4 - 1. newbies claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 53 percent.

Most important newbies player was Li Choon An. Grilled's top performer was clearly Mohd Marzuki Khairul.
