Glory Paradiso started the game in a 5-2-3 formation, whereas Grilled Birds lined up in a 2-5-3 formation. Paradiso clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could, taking advantage of their divine (20) level with that tactic. Grilled used their divine (+8) (28) ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. 1 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Paradiso substitution.
Jose Andrés Escalante came on for
Ler Yun Qiang. Paradiso created a good opportunity to score 23 minutes into the match when
Jacob Yamada's hooked ball from the left created a scuffle in front of the goal, and the visitors' defenders had a hard time clearing the ball. Grilled had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle attacks. Grilled's defence sent a ball soaring up the middle on a beautiful counterattack with 25 minutes gone, but
Gandhik Chitre's finish was met by the reaching hands of the keeper. 31 minutes into the game,
夏 (Ha) 其材 (Qicai) was a hair's breadth away from giving Grilled the lead with a shot from over on the left. A prompt block by
Ang Fu saved the home team that time.
Gilbert Chung knocked one home from a counterattack down the right wing, making the score 1 - 0 after 32 minutes. Paradiso's
Ong Yeng Eng got himself booked for a foul. With 35 minutes played,
Chia Kwang Tse came in from the right and could have evened the score, but the defenders successfully repelled the attack by Grilled. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 0. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 62 percent of possession.
Ang Fu's name was chanted throughout the stadium after he made a fantastic save from
Hwang Teck Fu's shot from the left 47 minutes into the match.
Mah Lee Kim slid in for a perfect tackle, bringing the ball with him, then got up on his feet again without losing control of the situation. He saw a teammate tearing away from the defenders, and timed the offensive pass perfectly. Paradiso played a good counterattacking move down the left 48 minutes into the match, with
Idhlan Abdul Fattah finishing well for 2 - 0. Paradiso's
Idhlan Abdul Fattah increased the lead to 3 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 51 minutes. An accurate cross from
Brian 'Was Born' Reddy of Grilled was met with a wonderful glancing header from
Chia Kwang Tse, hitting the inside base of the post before nestling into the back of the net for 3 - 1. Grilled were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up centrally. With 69 minutes played,
Gandhik Chitre had a fantastic opportunity to reply but his shot from the middle flew harmlessly wide of the goal. Paradiso almost scored after a counterattack 70 minutes into the match, but
Idhlan Abdul Fattah took a shot from the left that landed harmlessly in the side of the net. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for Grilled, as they moved the ball from the wings to the middle with startling regularity. With 73 minutes showing on the scoreboard clock, Grilled showed some good skill and were able to reduce the score to 3 - 2 when
Chia Kwang Tse got past the home side's central defenders right in front of the goal. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 2 minutes of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. With 89 minutes played, the visitors could have drawn level after
Mohd Marzuki Khairul came through the middle, but his shot went wide. Paradiso were given a free kick 90 minutes into the game, just after a swift counter attack broke down. Rather than shooting straight at goal, it was directed at the area just in front of the keeper. The attackers made several runs and made it hard for the defenders to protect their goal. After a short tussle with a defender,
Idhlan Abdul Fattah could finally lay the ball to rest behind the keeper. 4 - 2, and prove it can pay off to come prepared. At that,
Idhlan Abdul Fattah was noted down for a hat trick! The match ends 4 - 2. Grilled had most of the ball, with 63 percent of possession.
Paradiso's best player was
Idhlan Abdul Fattah.
Ang Fu on the other hand, had a terrible day. Grilled's top performer was clearly
Hwang Teck Fu. On the other hand,
Dimitris Germanakos's play was disheartening.
