Grilled Birds started the game in a 2-5-3 formation, whereas ChiliVili lined up in a 3-5-2 formation. Grilled clearly preferred using their divine (+9) (29) ability to attack in the middle. Grilled took the lead, 1 - 0, after a penalty 29 minutes into the match.
Aw Keng Chuan scored from the penalty spot. Grilled players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Grilled's
Gandhik Chitre increasing the lead to 2 - 0. With 34 minutes showing on the scoreboard clock, ChiliVili showed some good skill and were able to reduce the score to 2 - 1 when
Gabriele Sparacino got past the home side's central defenders right in front of the goal. 35 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
夏 (Ha) 其材 (Qicai) broke through, making the score 3 - 1 for Grilled. The visitors' right side was dangerous today;
Victor Mostert made the home team's keeper look foolish as he easily scored to reduce the lead to 3 - 2 38 minutes into the match. Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
Gandhik Chitre squirmed through their central defence after 40 minutes, increasing the lead to 4 - 2. The teams went for the halftime break at 4 - 2. Grilled had most of the ball, with 61 percent of possession.
46 minutes into the game, ChiliVili wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Mauricio Bonano gave
Clyde Bayne a quick hug as he left the field. Maybe due to the uphill battle the team was facing, the ChiliVili manager looked to change things around. After 52 minutes,
Gallus Hoffstetter and
Marcel Miez swapped positions on the field. Grilled solidified their lead at the 59 minute mark, as
Aw Keng Chuan dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 5 - 2. 61 minutes in, ChiliVili's
Mircea Toşa received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. After 70 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
Paulino Trindade off the field.
Mohsen El Khateeb took his place. Grilled put themselves up 6 - 2 when
Mohd Marzuki Khairul broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake. Cheers filled the stadium as
Aw Keng Chuan broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 7 - 2 to Grilled. This third goal completed a hattrick for
Aw Keng Chuan.
Victor Mostert was doing a great job on his wing, sending in brilliant passes to his teammates in the middle, but
Marcel Miez seemed unable to profit from this excellent service. Cheers filled the stadium as
Mohsen El Khateeb broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 8 - 2 to Grilled. ChiliVili's
Victor Mostert's long shot really ought to have found the net 86 minutes into the match, but it fell just wide of the target.
Mohd Marzuki Khairul would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise.
Chan Ze Han entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 89 minutes. As the 89 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution.
Aw Keng Chuan reluctantly made way for
Hong Kang Leong on the pitch. As
Aw Keng Chuan left the field, the coach signaled to
Hong Kang Leong to be the new set pieces taker. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 4 minutes of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. The match ends 8 - 2. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 60 percent of possession.
Most important Grilled player was
Chia Kwang Tse.
Louis Vara was a disappointment, however. ChiliVili's top performer was clearly
Gallus Hoffstetter. On the other hand,
Cristian Chiujdea's play was disheartening.
