Grilled 5 - 4 Queenstown

Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 87300 to The Cooking Pot. 吴 (Wu) 京盛 (Jingsheng) was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Hardis 'da-' Bērziņš and Uata Packer. The following players took the field for Grilled: Germanakos - Kang Leong, 其材 (Qicai) - Hutter, Teck Fu, Khairul, Kwang Tse, Trindade - Thach, Chitre, An Keng.

Queenstown fielded: Santirocchi - Rotenberg, Fernández del Cerro - Jie, Jing Wee, Aron, Razin Abdul Rafi, Ho Jie - M'Madi, Boğ, Khade.

Both teams came out with a similar approach to the match, having chosen to start with a 2-5-3 formation. Queenstown used their divine (+5) (25) ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. The visiting Combo M'Madi was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 2 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 0 - 1 was the score. Queenstown's Soo Jie was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 9 minutes. After 26 minutes, Queenstown's Kwek Ho Jie burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 2. The visitors nearly scored again after 29 minutes, but a superb save by Dimitris Germanakos kept Combo M'Madi's free kick out of the net. The home team's supporters got excited again when Lim An Keng broke through the visitors' central defence and caught their keeper off guard, making it 1 - 2. Hernán Fernández del Cerro of Queenstown was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. 37 minutes in, and Grilled were able to score the equalising goal to make it 2 - 2 when Gandhik Chitre picked up a pass coming in from the right and chipped it past the away team's keeper. 2 - 2 was the score after the first half. Grilled had most of the ball, with 59 percent of possession.

Given a free kick close to the byline, Grilled tried a move that loyal fans may recognise from training. A pass to the side pulled the defence out of position which let Lim An Keng slip through on goal. He didn't have to break his stride, and slipped the ball past the keeper to make it 3 - 2, 48 minutes into the game. Phua Jing Wee finished off a quick charge from the left of the field by chipping the ball just past the home side's keeper, making the score 3 - 3 60 minutes into the match. 夏 (Ha) 其材 (Qicai) of Grilled seemed to be floating in the air as he elegantly headed in to make the score 4 - 3 after a corner kick that was nicely executed by Hong Kang Leong. Grilled increased the lead as Lim An Keng struck to make the score 5 - 3 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper. That was his third goal of the match - a hat trick for Lim An Keng. 89 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution. Chan Ze Han came on for Mohd Marzuki Khairul. After 89 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving Damian Hutter off the field. Mohsen El Khateeb took his place. Hong Kang Leong would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. Bilal Mohammad Harun entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 89 minutes. Hong Kang Leong was coming off, and had placed his last free kick for the day. That meant that Chan Ze Han got the chance to showcase his dead ball skills. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 2 minutes of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. Queenstown players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. A bit later, Queenstown's Satya Khade easily reduced the lead to 5 - 4 after a misunderstanding in the home side's central defence. The match ends 5 - 4. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 58 percent of the time.

Grilled's top performer was clearly Lim An Keng. Bilal Mohammad Harun was a disappointment, however. Adem Boğ performed admirably for Queenstown. However, Hernán Fernández del Cerro made a disastrous appearance.
