newbies 4 - 5 Grilled

A scorching day at the newbies ground, where 66363 spectators were in place for today's match. Juan de Dios Sierra was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Lukas Plessis and Samuel Herrera. The intense heat made it hard for players relying on strength or speed to shine. On the other hand, it provided perfect conditions for the more technical players. All of Jurong was shut down for the day, as fans of both clubs came to the derby. newbies's starters: Manning - Gibson, Eutiner, Gardner - Keng Jia, Zakwan, Kang Su, Kim Tse, Ping Keong - Meng Heng, Choon An.

The following players took the field for Grilled: Germanakos - Keng Chuan, 其材 (Qicai) - Reddy, Teck Fu, Kwang Tse, Khairul, Parada - Thach, Thoroddsen, An Keng.

newbies are newbies started the game in a 3-5-2 formation, whereas Grilled Birds lined up in a 2-5-3 formation. Li Choon An gave newbies the lead as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then slotted the ball into the bottom corner, giving the keeper no chance. 1 - 0 Chen Meng Heng increased newbies's lead to 2 - 0 with a penalty spot cannonball. Given a free kick close to the byline, newbies tried a move that loyal fans may recognise from training. A pass to the side pulled the defence out of position which let Volkert Eutiner slip through on goal. He didn't have to break his stride, and slipped the ball past the keeper to make it 3 - 0, 16 minutes into the game. The home team's fans were upset when, after 22 minutes, the visiting Lim An Keng broke through the central defence and kicked the ball past the keeper. 3 - 1 was the score. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. Li Choon An squirmed through their central defence after 26 minutes, increasing the lead to 4 - 1. 27 minutes into the game, Volkert Eutiner had to leave the field due to a rib injury. The player that took his place was Martin Tung. 29 minutes in, an amazing pass from the left side resulted in a goal for the visitors, as Brian 'Was Born' Reddy anticipated the through ball and scored, reducing the deficit to 4 - 2. 4 - 2 was the score after the first half. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 51 percent of the ball.

Grilled's opponents know to be wary of Federico Parada's speed, but it made little difference as he flew past the defence 52 minutes into the game. Only the keeper could stop him - and he did with a perfectly timed dive! The visitors' right side was dangerous today; Hwang Teck Fu made the home team's keeper look foolish as he easily scored to reduce the lead to 4 - 3 54 minutes into the match. Grilled's Federico Parada set up a perfect opportunity for Brian 'Was Born' Reddy, but the latter failed to score. The referee showed Grilled's Chad Thach the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. The visitors kept the pressure on to tie the game when, after 74 minutes, Gústav Thoroddsen broke through the centre and found himself alone with the keeper. Nihe Manning made a great block, though. Mohd Marzuki Khairul tied the game at 4 - 4 after 75 minutes, when he converted an incredible pass from the right. The terraces were silenced after 79 minutes when Grilled's Mohd Marzuki Khairul put the guests ahead 4 - 5, following an attack on the right. After 89 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving Chia Kwang Tse off the field. Bilal Mohammad Harun took his place. 89 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Chad Thach gave Chan Ze Han a quick hug as he left the field. It was announced by the referee that he estimated stoppage time to be around 4 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! The match ends 4 - 5. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 52 percent of possession.

Most important newbies player was Li Choon An. However, Martin Tung made a disastrous appearance. The most dominating Grilled player was without a doubt Lim An Keng. Bilal Mohammad Harun turned in a dismal performance, however.
