Queenstown 0 - 4 Grilled

15195 spectators had found their way to Love Street Stadium, despite the heavy rain. Dave Gaskell-Bhuller was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Jarosław Socha and Hannes Helstein. The pitch was a disaster, due to all the rain. This spelled problems for the more sophisticated players, who usually could rely on speed or technique. For those relying on grit and strength, it actually meant an edge. The match took place on neutral ground. Queenstown fielded: Ng - Jie, Jie Yong - Raas, Rotenberg, Wan Liang, Jia Shi, Fernández del Cerro - George, Khade, Kong Chin.

The following players had been chosen by Grilled: Germanakos - Hutter, 其材 (Qicai) - Reddy, Chitre, Keng Chuan, An Keng, Parada - Kwang Tse, Khairul, Teck Fu.

As the teams spread out over the pitch, it became clear that they would both be using a 2-5-3 formation today. Queenstown used their supernatural (14) ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. Grilled were mostly trying to use their divine (+7) (27) skill at attacking on the flanks. Clever play that showed his experience gave Satya Khade a good chance to score, but the shot hit the crossbar. 17 minutes into the match, Grilled nearly took the lead, as Chia Kwang Tse broke through on the right. London Ng made the save, however. The home crowd breathed a collective sigh of relief when Gandhik Chitre was unable to put the ball in the net after his show of skill down the left 25 minutes into the match. He was seen beating the pitch in frustration at missing such a good chance to give his team the lead! Chia Kwang Tse of Grilled was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. Some good play on the left wing created an opportunity for the visitors 32 minutes into the match, and Chia Kwang Tse wasn't about to let it go by. He got past the defenders and fired a shot that the keeper just missed. 0 - 1 for the visitors. Had it not been for one of the home defenders, Brian 'Was Born' Reddy would have put Grilled up another goal 38 minutes into the match with his audacious lob from the right wing. Attacking on the wings was the choice for Grilled, and they were successfully passing the ball from the middle to the wings to attack. With 42 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed Brian 'Was Born' Reddy of Grilled to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 2. Grilled's Aw Keng Chuan made it through the home team's defence on the right hand side 43 minutes into the match. After rounding the keeper, he only had to place the ball in the unguarded goal when a defender slid in and cleared the ball off the line. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 2. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 72 percent of the ball.

Encouraged by their lead, after 46 minutes the Grilled coach asked Gandhik Chitre to change positions with Mohd Marzuki Khairul. Players in Grilled heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their central attacks to the wings instead. Grilled increased their lead after 49 minutes when Federico Parada broke through on the right, upping the score to 0 - 3, much to the home crowd's dismay. Some fine movement on the left led to a Grilled goal after 50 minutes, making it 0 - 4. Hwang Teck Fu was noted down as the scorer. Grilled were determined to attack on the wing and their central attempts were constantly abandoned in favour of the wings. After 55 minutes of game time, Damian Hutter had an excellent opportunity to add to the visitors' lead, clipping a volley hooked in from the right, but London Ng was in the right place and tipped the ball over for a corner. After 89 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving Aw Keng Chuan off the field. Teo Chuan Yong took his place. The referee announced 1 minute of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. The match ends 0 - 4. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 73 percent.

Most important Queenstown player was Gavin Rotenberg. Robin George was a disappointment, however. The most dominating Grilled player was without a doubt Mohd Marzuki Khairul. Teo Chuan Yong turned in a dismal performance, however.
