The teams had chosen different formations for the match. Home team Grilled Birds went for 2-5-3 while Queenstown MZKs has decided to play a 3-5-2 lineup. It was an obvious ambition of Queenstown to use their extra-terrestrial (16) ability at attacking on the flanks. The home side put themselves ahead 1 - 0 after 3 minutes courtesy of a breakthrough from
Mohd Marzuki Khairul, who scored with a stunning volley following a cross from the right wing. After 23 minutes, the visitors tied it up at 1 - 1 when a fantastic pass from the left was finished off by
Amal Razin Abdul Rafi.
Chia Kwang Tse caused the crowd to go mental with his goal up the middle after 30 minutes. This gave Grilled the 2 - 1 lead. Grilled's
Mohd Marzuki Khairul increased the lead to 3 - 1, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 33 minutes. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
Mohd Marzuki Khairul from Grilled a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 36 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! 36 into the match, Queenstown's
Adem Boğ fell flat on his chest. After a breather, he was ready to continue.
Chad Thach unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide. Cheers filled the stadium as
Lim An Keng broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 4 - 1 to Grilled. It was 4 - 1 at the break. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 66 percent.
A well-placed free kick by Queenstown's
Combo M'Madi reduced the lead to 4 - 2. The visitors' right side was dangerous today;
Combo M'Madi made the home team's keeper look foolish as he easily scored to reduce the lead to 4 - 3 59 minutes into the match. Grilled put themselves up 5 - 3 when
Chad Thach broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake. 70 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution.
Gandhik Chitre came on for
Hwang Teck Fu. Grilled's
Gústav Thoroddsen had an excellent opportunity after 80 minutes, shooting after receiving a pass from the right hand side, but he missed the goal by miles!
Hernán Fernández del Cerro nearly reduced the lead 82 minutes into the game, but a splendid one-handed save by
Dimitris Germanakos prevented the attempt coming in from the right flank from hitting the back of the net.
Brian 'Was Born' Reddy would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise.
Teo Chuan Yong entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 89 minutes. After 89 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
Gústav Thoroddsen off the field.
Phua Ming Xin took his place. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 3 minutes of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. The match ends 5 - 3. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 66 percent of possession.
Grilled's best player was
Lim An Keng.
Teo Chuan Yong turned in a dismal performance, however. Most important Queenstown player was
Adem Boğ.
London Ng on the other hand, had a terrible day.
