It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 2-5-3 formation while the visitors instead opted for 3-5-2. Grilled decided to play creatively at a magical (18) level. The suddenness of the Grilled's Brian 'Was Born' Reddy's pass to Phua Ming Xin after 3 minutes caught the opposition wrong-footed, and they could only watch as the ball sailed home for 1 - 0. 20 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as Gústav Thoroddsen broke through, making the score 2 - 0 for Grilled. The visitors' right side was dangerous today; Jeffrey Zane made the home team's keeper look foolish as he easily scored to reduce the lead to 2 - 1 26 minutes into the match. The referee showed Grilled's Mohd Marzuki Khairul the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Mohd Marzuki Khairul could have put Grilled up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 30 minutes. After 31 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and Mohd Marzuki Khairul gave the Grilled supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 3 - 1. A corner kick created great disorder in the penalty area with a goal nearly scored by Jørgen Scheie. At last, Signora's Pier Luigi Mazziotti was able to backheel the ball in. 3 - 2. With 36 minutes played, Orest Tokarz could have brought this one home for Grilled as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high. After 40 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by Mohd Marzuki Khairul might have resulted in another goal for Grilled. However, Kay Storbeck made a spectacular save. Grilled's Chia Kwang Tse was shown a yellow card after 42 minutes for slicing down an opponent. The teams went for the halftime break at 3 - 2. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 63 percent of the time.

60 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution. Bilal Mohammad Harun came on for Damian Hutter. Hervé Traoré would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. Habib Bara entered the game for Signora as the match clock showed 65 minutes. Grilled put in a good effort on the right, but Phua Ming Xin saw his volley fly wide of the mark 68 minutes into the game. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Jason Kuijt got himself booked. The manager of Signora was not happy. Grilled solidified their lead at the 74 minute mark, as Phua Ming Xin dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 4 - 2. Cheers filled the stadium as Orest Tokarz broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 5 - 2 to Grilled. 89 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Orest Tokarz gave Chan Ze Han a quick hug as he left the field. It was announced by the referee that he estimated stoppage time to be around 3 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! The home side's Mohd Marzuki Khairul came close to extending the lead 90 minutes into the game. His shot came in from the right hand side but Kay Storbeck managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction stop. Ubaldo Cattani of Signora was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. The match ends 5 - 2. Grilled had most of the ball, with 65 percent of possession.

Gústav Thoroddsen performed admirably for Grilled. Bilal Mohammad Harun on the other hand, had a terrible day. Signora's top performer was clearly Ciprian Băitanu. Habib Bara was a disappointment, however.
