Grilled Birds fielded a 2-5-3 lineup. For Phantasm Hotspurs, the formation of choice was 4-5-1. Grilled tried to focus their attacks down the middle, taking advantage of their divine (+8) (28) level with that tactic. Phantasm clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could, taking advantage of their world class (13) level with that tactic. With 4 minutes played, the home side managed to get a 1 - 0 lead as
Gústav Thoroddsen flipped the ball in after a cross from the right. Grilled players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. Grilled solidified their lead at the 5 minute mark, as
Brian 'Was Born' Reddy dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 2 - 0. The visitors replied 20 minutes into the game, reducing the home side's lead to 2 - 1, as
Mohd Zabir Azim dashed up the middle, easily lobbing the ball over the home team's keeper. 2 - 1 was the halftime score. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 65 percent of the time.
As the 46 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution.
Egemen Dinçer Ferzan reluctantly made way for
Federico Parada on the pitch. 46 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution.
Chad Thach came on for
Lim An Keng. A great save by keeper
Looi Beng Ze after 56 minutes kept the visitors in the game after
Chad Thach struck from the left with a real cannonball. An equalising goal was close at hand, but
Kwek Rong Wei clipped a free kick just wide of the goal. With 65 minutes played, Grilled's
Chad Thach almost extended the lead, but his shot from the left glanced off the top of the bar to fall behind the net. Grilled had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle attacks. Cheers filled the stadium as
Brian 'Was Born' Reddy broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 3 - 1 to Grilled. Phantasm's
Rafiuddin Indra Putra hurt his back 71 minutes into the match, and had to be convinced by the medical team that it was safer not to continue the match. The player that took his place was
Tan Meng Hock. Grilled put in a good effort on the right, but
Gústav Thoroddsen saw his volley fly wide of the mark 72 minutes into the game.
Masyhur Zulfadhli finished off the counterattack of Phantasm from the left rather easily, making the score 3 - 2. 89 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Orest Tokarz gave
Chan Ze Han a quick hug as he left the field. The referee announced 1 minute of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. The match ends 3 - 2. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 67 percent of the ball.
Gústav Thoroddsen performed admirably for Grilled.
Mohd Marzuki Khairul on the other hand, had a terrible day. Most important Phantasm player was
Masyhur Zulfadhli. However,
Eng Chi Wei made a disastrous appearance.
