Two More Crocked
Grilled Birds stepped up into the top half of the table for the first time this season, snuffing out Bluedragon four-nil. It was perhaps a reflection of Bluedragon's unprecedented disastrous run that only thiry thousand turned up to spectate at the derby. Not since the twenty-five thousand from extreme power's visit late last season had The Cooking Pot been so empty for a league game.
Bluedragon continued with their experiments in formations, starting in a 4-3-3 after testing out the 3-4-3, 5-3-2 and 3-5-2 in their five previous engagements. None of that could buy them a point, and it sure didn't look good for them as Langeland sidefooted strongly but wide with only four minutes on the clock.
Accidental hero Fabian Bona
picked up where he left off against Winning Eleven, behaving like an out-an-out winger as he wove past Johan Magnusson in Bluedragon's flat back four. He made as if to drift the ball across goal, but his resultant cross instead found its way in at the far post after a strange bounce. Langeland looked bemused as he stood unneeded in the middle.
Indonesian international Frangky Manaf cast himself into the role of bad boy for the umpteenth time, burying his studs into Grilled's captain, Luis Alcántara
, who squirmed in agony on the field. Lan Tuan-Mu
took over the skipper's duties as the referee flashed the yellow card at the disgruntled Manaf. Aznan Noor Yadah
ruled his wing as defenders held off him, and he darted past Wennborn to score a true breakaway goal.
Fresh after the kick-off, a missed header by Martinsson and Geurden left the ball in the path of Au-Yong Siu-Yue
, who fought for elbow room before unleashing a sure volley into the roof of the net. Siu-Yue's fragility resurfaced however after the rest of the half was played out tamely, as he got sandwiched between several players during a Bluedragon attack early in the second period and suffered a hairline fracture in his shin.Aznan Noor Yadah
completed the rout with another sizzling run for Jan Langeland
to build up his as yet unimpressive goal tally, following which the Norwegian striker spurned a half-chance as his weak header was palmed out by Bluedragon keeper Jamie Jeremy. Siu-Yue's replacement Jon Andrea Rottman
cast his lot in with a tricky little lob that sailed a metre too high, before Bluedragon got their wind back for the last half-hour.
