Much-Needed Win

Grilled desperately needed some points to get the monkey off their back, and they got three off a Chemistry side that had impressed against Team Singapore, but hit a wall against Codingin last week.
The Birds were served notice of their supporters' disappointment as The Cooking Pot was barely a third filled, but those who bothered to make their way down would get to witness an overwhelmingly dominant performance by Grilled.

Grilled's midfield, which shifted Kek-Tjiang wide and concentrated the passmasters in the middle, literally ran rings around the three that Chemistry fielded, and Fredgård should have at least tested Lantos in the 11th minute after van Liere broke loose with a delightful reverse turn.

Dimitri Simon's similar error slightly later was rather harder to forgive, as the Belgian had been bought on his ability to get the goals. Grilled were never wanting for opportunities, though, and Sid was very unlucky to see his 26th minute curling free kick come off the underside of the bar.

Grilled's persistance paid off after 57 minutes of constant pressure, as the disciplined Chemistry back four were caught flat as two Grilled players dashed through on cue as Spirig played it over the top. Martinsson put his trust in Fredgård, and was duly rewarded as the Swede defender slotted home his second in as many games.

That was the signal for Grilled to chase a second, and half the team was in the opposition penalty area when Sid lifted a free-kick in from his own half. Bona led with his leg and buried it into both Brúnó Lantos' chest and the ball, and to his credit the Chemistry keeper refused to relinquish his hold on it. Bona was booked for his rash challenge, but Lantos couldn't carry on, and went off for Belgian backup Yann Jolly.

Jolly had little reason to be happy as his first act was to pick the ball out of the back of his net, as Dimitri Simon ingratiated himself with the home fans with a clever spin to shake Chang Chin off before buring it into the far corner of the net.

It was game over for Chemistry by then, and the most Eric Niklasson could manage was a yellow card for bringing Martinsson down as the off-form Grilled marksman performed a series of stepovers on the edge of the box.
