Grilled Birds started the game in a 2-5-3 formation, whereas Crab Hill Pirates FC lined up in a 3-4-3. Grilled took the lead 14 minutes in, after
Orest Tokarz's awkward, but ultimately successful, shot from the right. 1 - 0. 16 minutes into the game Pirates's
Milton Mercury found a gap in the home side's central defense and scored with a fabulous shot, making it 1 - 1. Some quick footwork on the left side of the field 25 minutes into the match left Pirates's
Junior Johnson completely free to score. 1 - 2 for the visitors. A thrilling play through the middle after 28 minutes gave Pirates's
Theo Babb a chance to increase the lead, and he happily obliged. The score was then 1 - 3. Grilled's
Orest Tokarz found himself alone on the left side 30 minutes into the match and launched a marshmallow of a shot - right into the arms of the keeper. What a turkey! The away team's fans are gobbling it up! After 33 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defense allowed
Kent-Olof Pettersson to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 1 - 4. Grilled's
Gústav Thoroddsen got the home crowd going bananas when he finished off a left wing bull rush, reducing the away team's lead to 2 - 4. It was 2 - 4 at the break. Let's go to the Twittersphere to see what the fans think of the game so far! says
Junior Johnson almost seemed to dance around
Chia Kwang Tse, his movements were so smooth. Unfortunately for Pirates, his shot ended up on the wrong side of the post. The home crowd did not lose faith and cheered their team on as they strove to get back into the game. The fans were rewarded after 60 minutes when
Orest Tokarz burst forward, 5-holed the central defender and then mischievously lobbed the ball over the advancing goalie to make the score 3 - 4. Definitely a SportsCenter Top 10 candidate – DA-DA-DA! DA-DA-DA! 70 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Orest Tokarz gave
Evandro La Face a quick hug as he left the field. Given a free kick from an impossible angle, Grilled went for a play that loyal fans may recognize from training. A square ball surprised the defense and let
Chia Kwang Tse slip through at goal. He hit it first time, making the score 4 - 4, 71 minutes into the game. With the clock showing 72 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board.
Kent-Olof Pettersson looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for
Paul Dospina, though he would have liked to continue. The Pirates captaincy was handed to
Paul Dospina. 75 minutes into the match, the referee signaled for a Pirates substitution.
Diego Vera came on for
Moreno De Vitis. With 81 minutes gone, Pirates's organization began to suffer due to a lack of experience.
Aw Keng Chuan could have put Grilled into the lead with 82 minutes played, but the free kick went just wide. Good work by Pirates's defensive line after 83 minutes produced a good counter-attack chance, one of which cut elegantly down the middle of the field and found
Rodolfo de Jesus alone in front of the goal, but his shot whistled just wide. After 84 minutes of play,
Paulino Trindade gave the home team a 5 - 4 lead after an attack coming in from the right. After 85 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the field, waving
Gústav Thoroddsen off.
Phua Ming Xin took his place. The head of
Mohd Marzuki Khairul connected with a beautiful corner kick after 85 minutes. He wasn't shooting, though, but rather passing to
Evandro La Face of Grilled who buried the shot for 6 - 4. As the match nears its end, the referee deemed it appropriate to add 3 minutes as stoppage time. The match ends 6 - 4. Now to our celebrity commentator for a hot take. Over to you, Snoop! Grilled's best player was
Brian 'Was Born' Reddy. Good thing
Dimitris Germanakos isn't a horse, because he'd surely be sent to the glue factory after that performance. The most outstanding Pirates player was without a doubt
Werner Fiedelsberger. Speaking of stinking up the place,
Anthony Whitney sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham.
