Grilled 2 - 5 ULFC

Dark skies made the crowd of 24562 at Love Street Stadium a little nervous, but the rain held off. Gergely Dezamics was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Clement Jack and Gregor von Falkenhayn. The match took place on neutral ground. The following players took the field for Grilled: Germanakos - Keng Chuan, 其材 (Qicai) - Reddy, Kwang Tse, An Keng, Chitre, Parada - Thoroddsen, Tokarz, La Face.

ULFC's starters: Obrajero - Tammi, Wardi, Enasteasu, Cretel - Boltshauser, Cui, 文鹏 (Wenpeng), Kasanmoeseni, Daddario - de Deus.

The teams had chosen different formations for the match. Home team Grilled Birds went for 2-5-3 while United Legends FC has decided to play a 4-5-1 lineup. Grilled clearly preferred using their divine (20) ability to attack in the middle. Where ever Gústav Thoroddsen went, Javier Enasteasu was there, nibbling on his heels. An admirable display of efficient man marking! 21 minutes into the match, ULFC's Fred Cui demonstrated his famed speed as he raced past his marker and passed the ball to Ruggero Daddario who chipped it in for 0 - 1. After 24 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defence allowed Tiemen Kasanmoeseni to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 0 - 2. The home side worked hard to get through the middle and as a result, had a good chance of getting one back as Aw Keng Chuan tried lifting the ball over keeper Pastor Obrajero. Unfortunately, the ball went just over the bar. A wonderful trick by Gústav Thoroddsen that left Abd Jamil Wardi bewildered really deserved to end in a goal but the keeper made a fine save. Fred Cui increased ULFC's lead to 0 - 3 with a superb free kick strike that flew in just under the far top corner. 39 minutes in, ULFC's Ruggero Daddario received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Having taken a hard knock between his legs, Federico Parada limped off the pitch in a reduced state of dignity. He could not continue, managing only 40 minutes for his team this day. The player that took his place was Egemen Dinçer Ferzan. Federico Parada was coming off, and had placed his last free kick for the day. That meant that Aw Keng Chuan got the chance to showcase his dead ball skills. Grilled reduced the lead to 1 - 3 with 41 minutes on the clock when Orest Tokarz got the best of a ball floated in from the left. Orest Tokarz challenged the visitors' central defence eagerly, producing a good chance 42 minutes into the game as he went for a through ball. But, as so many times before, the guests' defensive efforts got the best of it. 1 - 3 was the halftime score. Possession was split evenly between the teams.

46 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Evandro La Face gave Chan Ze Han a quick hug as he left the field. Content with how the game was proceeding, the ULFC coach let Fabian Welsch replace Ruggero Daddario after 46 minutes. The home team's supporters got excited again when Gústav Thoroddsen broke through the visitors' central defence and caught their keeper off guard, making it 2 - 3. The visitors almost increased their lead after 68 minutes when a sweetly hit free kick looked like it was heading for the top corner. However the keeper managed to get a fingertip to it, sending it over the bar. Grilled's Chia Kwang Tse almost tied things up with 83 minutes played after breaking through on the right, but his shot deflected off the post. ULFC increased their lead after 86 minutes when Fabian Welsch broke through on the right, upping the score to 2 - 4, much to the home crowd's dismay. The referee announced 3 minutes of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. Fred Cui increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 2 - 5. The match ends 2 - 5. Neither team was controlling the possession at this point in the match, with the stats showing a 50:50 split.

Most important Grilled player was Chan Ze Han. Gústav Thoroddsen turned in a dismal performance, however. ULFC's best player was Fred Cui. On the other hand, Javier Enasteasu's play was disheartening.
