Mayuyu 3 - 2 Grilled

The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 29729 had shown up at 渡辺麻友Dome for the match. Franco Paolo De Sanctis was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Aage Pettersen and Richard Ransford. Mayuyu's lineup was: Boestlinger - Stepp, Ekborn, Kefalín, Burboa - Duhamel, Wauquier, Favari, Olivieri - Ahola, Inczédi.

The following players had been chosen by Grilled: Germanakos - Keng Chuan, Hutter - Reddy, Thach, An Keng, Khairul, Parada - Reece, Ming Xin, Tokarz.

Mayuyu AKB48 entered the field in a 4-4-2 formation. The visitors, Grilled Birds, chose to start the game with a 2-5-3 lineup. The wings were the focus of most of Mayuyu's attacks on this day, taking advantage of their divine (+3) (23) level with that tactic. Damian Hutter received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly 16 minutes into the match, probably out of lack of experience, and almost let an opponent score. It was obvious that Mayuyu had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle. Mayuyu broke through on the left 26 minutes into the game, with Hunor Inczédi firing in from an acute angle to give the home side a 1 - 0 lead. Phua Ming Xin tied the game at 1 - 1 after 30 minutes, when he converted an incredible pass from the right. 31 minutes into the game, Orest Tokarz almost gave the visitors the lead, as he clipped a delicate lob over the keeper, but the ball glanced harmlessly off the crossbar. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 1. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 59 percent of the time.

58 minutes into the game, Mayuyu's Anders Ekborn fired home from an incredible distance! We'll be seeing that on Xmas goal compilation DVDs for years to come! 2 - 1. After 67 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and Jonathan Duhamel gave the Mayuyu supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 3 - 1. Grilled's Chad Thach was shown a yellow card after 74 minutes for slicing down an opponent. Phua Ming Xin had a couple of good opportunities to reply after getting through the middle of the opposition defence, but the home team's keeper Philip Boestlinger was simply unbeatable. Coming in on the left, Phua Ming Xin did everything right to get a goal for Grilled after 76 minutes, but his finishing shot was stabbed clear by the keeper. Mayuyu had a good opportunity to attack in the middle, but remembered their instructions to focus on wing attacks instead. With 80 minutes played, Anders Ekborn could have brought this one home for Mayuyu as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high. After 89 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving Dimitris Germanakos off the field. Manuel Vadalà took his place. As the match nears its end, the referee has deemed it appropriate to add 1 minute as stoppage time. With 89 minutes showing on the scoreboard clock, Grilled showed some good skill and were able to reduce the score to 3 - 2 when Mohd Marzuki Khairul got past the home side's central defenders right in front of the goal. The match ends 3 - 2. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 61 percent.

The most dominating Mayuyu player was without a doubt Jonathan Duhamel. Philip Boestlinger on the other hand, had a terrible day. Federico Parada performed admirably for Grilled. On the other hand, Manuel Vadalà's play was disheartening.
