The coaches were in sync today, as both teams lined up in a 2-5-3 formation. Today, Grilled's strategy involved concentrating on the flanks for their attacks, taking advantage of their divine (+1) (21) ability. Joker decided to play creatively. After 12 minutes, Joker put themselves up 0 - 1, as
Tay 'Lucky' Fu Yew finished off a play from the left with a real rocket. Players in Grilled heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their central attacks to the wings instead. Due to some great work on the right wing Grilled's
Chia Kwang Tse was able to even the score 16 minutes in to 1 - 1. Joker took the lead 17 minutes into the game, making the score 1 - 2 after some elegant movement down the middle.
Tay 'Lucky' Fu Yew was the scorer. Attacking on the wings was the theme of the day for Grilled, and they were successfully passing the ball outside from the middle. Grilled's
Federico Parada put his head on a fantastic ball lifted in from the left, and scored after 28 minutes to bring the teams level - 2 - 2. Slack defending gave Grilled a chance to take the lead with 37 minutes played, but
Orest Tokarz's cross from the left flank was met gratefully by the opposition who cleared it to safety. Oh dear - the keeper's made a mess of that one. The crowd was very disappointed after he let
Tommaso 'Ketchup' Corvaglia get the go-ahead goal with a speculative shot from the right after 39 minutes. 2 - 3. Halftime score was 2 - 3. Let's go to the Twittersphere to see what the fans think of the game so far! says After 55 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for
Tay 'Lucky' Fu Yew who increased Joker's lead to 2 - 4. One, two, three goals! That completed a hattrick for
Tay 'Lucky' Fu Yew. AH! AH! AH! It was obvious that Grilled had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle. Only after several tries were Grilled able to break through on the left 60 minutes in, getting the ball to
Hwang Teck Fu who cockily put away the goal to make the score 3 - 4. Grilled's
Aw Keng Chuan was shown a yellow card after 75 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
The visitors'
Tibe Herkens took advantage of a mix-up between the home side's goalie and center backs 77 minutes into the match. 3 - 5 for Joker. 80 minutes into the match, the referee signaled for a Grilled substitution.
Phua Ming Xin came on for
Hwang Teck Fu.
Orest Tokarz did everything he could to get one back for the home crowd, but keeper
Galip Adıcan denied him with a spectacular save. 86 minutes into the match, Grilled's
Mohd Marzuki Khairul chased down a ball sent down the right and put it into the back of the net, narrowing the score to 4 - 5. The crowd chanted their encouragement as Grilled's
Aw Keng Chuan came in from the right after 87 minutes and put the ball in the net to even the score at 5 - 5. Grilled took the lead 87 minutes in, as
Joe Reece broke through on the left and put his shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper, bringing the score to 6 - 5. With the clock showing 89 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board.
Orest Tokarz looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for
Chan Ze Han, though he would have liked to continue. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 3 beyond the regular 90 minutes. The match ends 6 - 5. Grilled did a good job holding on to the ball, with 55 percent of possession. We'll be back after these interminable commercial messages.
Chan Ze Han performed admirably for Grilled. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because
Damian Hutter seemed to stumble all over the pitch. The most outstanding Joker player was without a doubt
Mario Schumpbach. Speaking of stinking up the place,
Tejas Gopalakrishnan sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham.
