Grilled 2 - 4 Snifters

It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd that came out to the stadium today. The weather was sunny, which meant perfect conditions for technical players in both teams. However, it was also quite warm, which meant quick or physically strong players were drained faster and couldn't play their best game. Lineup: Germanakos - Keng Chuan, Hutter - Reddy, Thach, An Keng, Khairul, Parada - Reece, Ming Xin, Tokarz.

The following players took the field: Karunaratne - Hollmann, zgney - Dikmans, Has, No, van der Ban, Chu - Kumolu-Johnson, Crdenas, Hvidt.

The teams stopped and stared at each other - it was like they were looking in a mirror, since they both lined up in a 2-5-3 formation. It was an obvious ambition of Grilled to play a wide game with their divine (20) ability to attack down the wings. Snifters went for a narrow approach, using their divine (+1) (21) ability to focus their attacks down the middle. Despite the fact that he was falling backwards, Lim An Keng still managed to send an excellent header goalwards. The crossbar is the keeper's best friend though, and the ball bounced harmlessly out of play. Grilled created a good opportunity to score 21 minutes into the game when Orest Tokarz's hooked ball from the left created a scuffle in front of the goal, but the visitors' defenders eventually won out. It was obvious that Grilled had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle. After 25 minutes of play, Orest Tokarz gave the home team a 1 - 0 lead after an attack coming in from the right. The visitors wouldn't quit and after 33 minutes, Wout van der Ban evened things up as he finished off a perfect pass from the right. 1 - 1. It was 1 - 1 at the break. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that Grilled would have 55 percent possession in this half was spot on!

Attacking on the wings was the theme of the day for Grilled, and they were successfully passing the ball outside from the middle. The game had been going for 63 minutes when Orest Tokarz came in on the right, feinted, then sped past the off-balance defender to put away the 2 - 1 goal, giving Grilled the lead. The visiting team's Jos Antonio Crdenas was able to score the 2 - 2 equalizer with a header 80 minutes in, after some good work on the right. Making his way up the middle after 81 minutes, Phua Ming Xin almost managed to sneak a goal past the visitors' keeper, but Edison Karunaratne was ready and blocked it to keep the score level. Though it was beautiful soccer, the home crowd did not enjoy Cody Chu's goal after a run down the left with 82 minutes on the clock. Snifters lead, 2 - 3. No matter how hard he tried, Orest Tokarz just couldn't get past the visitors' right side defense 83 minutes in and eventually the ball was cleared away. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 2 beyond the regular 90 minutes. The visitors' Jos Antonio Crdenas took advantage of a mix-up between the home side's goalie and center backs 90 minutes into the match. 2 - 4 for Snifters. The match ends 2 - 4. Let's go to the Twittersphere to see what the fans think of the game so far! says Grilled's best player was Mohd Marzuki Khairul. Good thing Damian Hutter isn't a horse, because he'd surely be sent to the glue factory after that performance. Most important Snifters player was Luis Enrique Hollmann. I can't remember Gert Dikmans ever having a worse night than he just had.
