It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 3-4-3 formation while the visitors instead opted for a 2-5-3. Grilled used their divine (20) ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the field.
Webster Banda gave Victoria the 1 - 0 lead, as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then placed the ball at the keeper's right post – what a clinical finish! Victoria managed to extend their lead to 2 - 0 when
Felix Maurer slid in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. After 27 minutes, Victoria's
Misheck Mulenga ran past
Damian Hutter like he was standing still to put away the 3 - 0 goal. The visitors got a chance to pulling one back after 29 minutes, due to a defensive blunder leaving
Orest Tokarz completely unmarked. His strike was pathetic though, rolling slowly to the home side's keeper. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for Grilled, and they were successfully passing the ball from the wing into the middle at the behest of their coach. The visitors replied 30 minutes into the game, reducing the lead to 3 - 1, as
Phua Ming Xin dashed up the middle and chipped the ball over the home team's keeper. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Victoria's
Cesare Bonelli bringing the lead up to 4 - 1. A beautiful, arcing corner kick from
Federico Parada found
Lim An Keng at the far post, soaring to meet the ball. The keeper is late and he's headed it in for 4 - 2! Halftime score was 4 - 2. Grilled did a good job holding on to the ball, with 58 percent of possession. We'll be back after these interminable commercial messages.
Grilled never say die, and though it wasn't a pretty goal,
Phua Ming Xin offered the visiting fans a glimmer of hope after 56 minutes. That makes it 4 - 3. The referee showed Grilled's
Chad Thach the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. The visitors didn't give in and, after 73 minutes,
Phua Ming Xin got through the home side's central line of defense, rolling in the leveling goal to make it 4 - 4. He's already scored two, and with the third,
Phua Ming Xin has a hattrick! As the 75 minute mark approached, the Victoria manager decided it was time for a substitution.
Máté Dancs reluctantly made way for
Michael Chiphwanya.
Chad Thach of Grilled got sent off for kicking the ball after the whistle, a completely uncalled for move, earning him his second yellow card of the game. With the clock showing 80 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board.
Egemen Dinçer Ferzan looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for
Paulino Trindade, though he would have liked to continue. Grilled took the lead 81 minutes into the game, making the score 4 - 5 after some elegant movement down the middle.
Joe Reece was the scorer. It was announced by the fourth official that he estimated stoppage time to be around 4 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! After the ball was lifted in from the left,
Orest Tokarz was on his own in the home side's penalty area and should have scored after 90 minutes, but missed, probably due to lack of concentration. After 91 minutes, Grilled began to show their lack of experience and they threatened to wilt under the heavy pressure from their opposition. Grilled's
Phua Ming Xin received a ball slotted perfectly through the home side's central defense after 91 minutes, and chipped it past the helpless keeper to increase the lead to 4 - 6. The away fans won't regret traveling for this one! The match ends 4 - 6. Well, look at this! Cardi B is on the Enormotron in naught but giant sunglasses and a Never2L8 tank top. I've not seen anything like it before. The most outstanding Victoria player was without a doubt
Misheck Mulenga. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because
Michael Chiphwanya seemed to stumble all over the pitch. Most important Grilled player was
Federico Parada. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by
Damian Hutter today.
