The fans at the stadium today were roasting in the hot sun. The intense heat made it hard for players relying on strength or speed to shine. On the other hand, it provided perfect conditions for the more technical players. The following players had been selected:

The following players took the field:

It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 2-5-3 formation while the visitors instead opted for a 4-3-3. Grilled seemed to prefer attacking in the middle, using their divine (20) ability to great effect. WG decided to play creatively.
Phua Ming Xin's name was chanted throughout the stadium after his goal in minute 13 following a run up the middle gave Grilled the 1 - 0 lead.
Federico Parada gave Grilled supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 2 - 0 after 14 minutes, following a good exchange of passes on the right that the away team failed to deal with. After more pushing and shoving than a pack of helicopter moms trying to get the last appointment for their snowflakes to see the Easter Bunny, Grilled's
Aw Keng Chuan finally got himself booked for a foul. The incalculable
Damian Hutter of Grilled did everything right as he set up
Phua Ming Xin for a goal after 25 minutes. Unfortunately, the strike missed its target. Grilled's
Chad Thach was delighted to score as he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing keeper and into the net, following some good attacking movement on the right wing. 3 - 0 after 29 minutes. Cheers filled the stadium as
Lim An Keng broke through the visitors' central defense to put away the 4 - 0 goal for Grilled. Grilled's coach was furious with
Joe Reece after he picked up a yellow for saying one too many words to the ref. Things were going from bad to worse for the visitors.
Phua Ming Xin was able to squirm through the central defense after 35 minutes and score, bringing the lead to 5 - 0. Halftime score was 5 - 0. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that Grilled would have 66 percent possession in this half was spot on!
After 60 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the field, waving
Ibnou Balde off.
Egemen Dinçer Ferzan took his place. 60 minutes into the match, the referee signaled for a Grilled substitution.
Hwang Teck Fu came on for
Mohd Marzuki Khairul.
Hwang Teck Fu had a fantastic opportunity to put Grilled up another goal 75 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar. After 77 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
Egemen Dinçer Ferzan might have resulted in another goal for Grilled. However,
Daniel Toader made a spectacular save.
Phua Ming Xin increased Grilled's lead to 6 - 0, connecting with a hooked ball from the right. The away fans are claiming handball, to no avail. That was his third goal of the match - a hattrick for
Phua Ming Xin! That's the name of the game!
Phua Ming Xin was not content with his team's lead, and tried to extend it 83 minutes into the game after a nice run through the middle, but his shot went wide. The head of
Orest Tokarz connected with a beautiful corner kick after 84 minutes. He wasn't shooting, though, but rather passing to
Lim An Keng of Grilled who buried the shot for 7 - 0. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 2 beyond the regular 90 minutes. The match ends 7 - 0. Let's go to the Twittersphere to see what the fans think of the game so far! says Grilled's best player was
Lim An Keng. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because
Egemen Dinçer Ferzan seemed to stumble all over the pitch. The most outstanding WG player was without a doubt
Wilco Buijs. I can't remember
Emmanouil Mparis ever having a worse night than he just had.
