Grilled 5 - 1 Lokomotive

It was a scorching day at the stadium today. For some players the sunny weather was bad news. It made Powerful and Quick players a bit sluggish. For Technical players, it was instead an advantage, allowing them to shine on the pitch. The following players had been selected: Germanakos - Keng Chuan, Hutter - Parada, Thach, An Keng, Khairul, Balde - Reece, Ming Xin, Tokarz.

The following players took the field: Kroll - Ammeter, Sprunger, Migdał - Berruyer, Durville, Haaland, Harris, Arreola - Muscalu, Feltl.

The teams had chosen different formations for the match. The home team, Grilled Birds, went for a 2-5-3, while Lokomotive Basel 04 has decided to play a 3-5-2 lineup. Grilled used their divine (20) ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the field. Grilled's coach was furious with Federico Parada after he picked up a yellow for saying one too many words to the ref. Ibnou Balde gave Grilled the 1 - 0 lead, as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then placed the ball at the keeper's right post – what a clinical finish! Grilled were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up coming through the center. Grilled's Chad Thach saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates 38 minutes in. Coming through the middle Benjamin Feltl almost scored the equalizer for Lokomotive after 39 minutes, but Dimitris Germanakos made an excellent save, tipping the awkward swerving shot past the post. After 40 minutes, Lokomotive used a short break in the game to take new instructions from their coach. Lokomotive's Eugen Ammeter was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 42 minutes. 44 minutes had gone when Grilled's Federico Parada found the back of the goal with a beautiful free kick. 2 - 0. Cheers filled the stadium as Mohd Marzuki Khairul broke through the visitors' central defense to put away the 3 - 0 goal for Grilled. 3 - 0 was the score after the first half. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that Grilled would have 58 percent possession in this half was spot on!

Lokomotive had a fair chance to reply after 49 minutes due to some fine moves down the left, but in the end Hermann Sprunger was slow to keep up with the play and was unable to make it into the penalty box to apply a finish. Phua Ming Xin should probably have put his team up another goal after 56 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by Justus Kroll kept the visitors in the game. With the clock showing 60 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board. Ibnou Balde looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for Egemen Dinçer Ferzan, though he would have liked to continue. 60 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Mohd Marzuki Khairul gave Hwang Teck Fu a quick hug as he left the field. 79 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defense had to look on as Hwang Teck Fu ran straight through, knocking one home to make it 4 - 0 for Grilled. After 82 minutes, Joe Reece put Grilled ahead 5 - 0 when he rose to head in a hooked ball, the result of an effort from the right side. As the match nears its end, the referee deemed it appropriate to add 1 minutes as stoppage time. With 89 minutes gone, Lokomotive replied and reduced the lead to 5 - 1. Maurice Harris scored after a marvelous cross from the left. The match ends 5 - 1. Well, look at this! Cardi B is on the Enormotron in naught but giant sunglasses and a Never2L8 tank top. I've not seen anything like it before. The most outstanding Grilled player was without a doubt Lim An Keng. I can't remember Egemen Dinçer Ferzan ever having a worse night than he just had. Lokomotive's top performer was clearly Erling Haaland. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because Justus Kroll seemed to stumble all over the pitch.
