A 2-5-3 was the choice of the day for both coaches. Grilled seemed to prefer attacking in the middle, using their divine (20) ability to great effect. It was an obvious ambition of bluenote to play a wide game with their brilliant (11) ability to attack down the wings.
Joe Reece is making an astonishing dash. The fans are chanting his name. You can hear it reverberate around the stadium. Now a manic sprint up the middle and into the box. Oh! He's thrown open the door! He's thrown open the door, shot the ball through, and slammed the door shut on Mr. Tumnus! Grilled has taken the lead 4 minutes into the match, 1 to 0. There'll be no Turkish Delight after the match for the keeper!
Pierre-Alexis Arnaud tied the game at 1 - 1 after 11 minutes, when he converted an incredible pass from the right.
Chia Kwang Tse gave Grilled the 2 - 1 lead, as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then placed the ball at the keeper's right post – what a clinical finish! Grilled's coach was furious with
Chia Kwang Tse after he picked up a yellow for saying one too many words to the ref. It was 2 - 1 at the break. Now to our celebrity commentator for a hot take. Over to you, Snoop! 46 minutes into the match, the referee signaled for a Grilled substitution.
Gandhik Chitre came on for
Chad Thach. Cheers filled the stadium as
Joe Reece broke through the visitors' central defense to put away the 3 - 1 goal for Grilled. Grilled solidified their lead at the 48 minute mark, as
Gandhik Chitre snaked the ball through the central line of defense and finished for 4 - 1. Things were going from bad to worse for the visitors.
Mohd Marzuki Khairul was able to squirm through the central defense after 53 minutes and score, bringing the lead to 5 - 1. After 55 minutes, the bluenote coach wanted to see a new face on the field, waving
Alberto Lips off.
Franco Schindler took his place. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for Grilled, and they were successfully passing the ball from the wing into the middle at the behest of their coach. 56 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defense had to look on as
Phua Ming Xin ran straight through, knocking one home to make it 6 - 1 for Grilled. As the 60 minute mark approached, the bluenote manager decided it was time for a substitution.
Dominique Mabes reluctantly made way for
Moreno Antenen. 70 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Chia Kwang Tse gave
Lim An Keng a quick hug as he left the field. With the clock showing 77 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board.
Francois Winiger looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for
Andreas Hillmann, though he would have liked to continue. 85 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Joe Reece gave
Chan Ze Han a quick hug as he left the field. It was announced by the fourth official that he estimated stoppage time to be around 2 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! The match ends 6 - 1. Grilled did a good job holding on to the ball, with 58 percent of possession. We'll be back after these interminable commercial messages.
Grilled's best player was
Chan Ze Han. Speaking of stinking up the place,
Paulino Trindade sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham. bluenote's top performer was clearly
Moreno Antenen. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because
Franco Schindler seemed to stumble all over the pitch.
