Grilled 2 - 1 United

It was a sunny day at the stadium today. The weather was sunny, which meant perfect conditions for technical players in both teams. However, it was also quite warm, which meant quick or physically strong players were drained faster and couldn't play their best game. The following players took the field: Germanakos - Keng Chuan, Hutter - Parada, Thach, Kwang Tse, Khairul, Baena - Reece, Ming Xin, Tokarz.

They fielded: Selemon Ayele - Rodrigues, Melipichun, Sutcliffe - Pochop, Lucarini, Barrio, Spithoven, Řezníček - Kamushkin, Parylak.

It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 2-5-3 formation while the visitors instead opted for a 3-5-2. Grilled used their divine (20) ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the field. After 11 minutes, following yet another great corner, Juan Fernando Melipichun knocked the ball to Paolo Lucarini but it was just too high and the shot came off at a bad angle. After a fine move down the middle Orest Tokarz nearly put the home side one up with 13 minutes played. His final touch escaped him though and the keeper smothered the ball. An unexpected volley from Enrique Baena almost resulted in a goal, but Joe Reece couldn't finish after the ball came back off the keeper. Though it was beautiful soccer, the home crowd did not enjoy Jurjan Spithoven's goal after a run down the left with 33 minutes on the clock. United lead, 0 - 1. It was 0 - 1 at the break. Grilled did a good job holding on to the ball, with 54 percent of possession. We'll be back after these interminable commercial messages.

As the 46 minute mark approached, the Grilled manager decided it was time for a substitution. Chad Thach reluctantly made way for Gandhik Chitre. 70 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Chia Kwang Tse gave Lim An Keng a quick hug as he left the field. Orest Tokarz charged down the left and had a wonderful opportunity to score the equalizer for Grilled, but the shot went well wide of the goal. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, United's Jurjan Spithoven got himself booked. After 85 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the field, waving Joe Reece off. Chan Ze Han took his place. After 86 minutes Grilled were able to score the equalizing 1 - 1 goal when Chan Ze Han picked up a pass coming in from the right and lofted it past the away team's keeper. Grilled were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up coming through the center. The visitors' central defense should have had no trouble clearing the pass to Enrique Baena, but the Grilled player managed to shrug them off and fire a low shot that 5-holed the keeper to give his team the lead. 2 - 1! The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 2 beyond the regular 90 minutes. Phua Ming Xin let loose a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide. The match ends 2 - 1. Now to our celebrity commentator for a hot take. Over to you, Snoop! Grilled's best player was Chan Ze Han. Speaking of stinking up the place, Damian Hutter sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham. Gregg Rodrigues performed admirably for United. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by Lumír Pochop today.
