OHL Jostakovic fielded a 3-5-2 lineup. For Grilled Birds, the formation of choice was a 2-5-3. Grilled went for a narrow approach, using their divine (20) ability to focus their attacks down the middle. Jostakovic fans held their breath as
Gatien Blaimont gallivanted down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and fired home the go-ahead goal for 1 - 0! An equalizing goal was close at hand, but
Federico Parada clipped a free kick just wide of the goal. It was obvious that Grilled had instructions to attack in the middle when they directed a break on the wing into the center of the park. The visitors didn't give in and, after 15 minutes,
Damian Hutter got through the home side's central line of defense, rolling in the leveling goal to make it 1 - 1. Jostakovic took the lead 26 minutes in, after
Duco Van Landuyt's awkward, but ultimately successful, shot from the right. 2 - 1. The crowd was silenced 28 minutes into the match as the visiting team's
Mohd Marzuki Khairul came in from the left, tying the game up at 2 - 2. The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 2. Well, look at this! Cardi B is on the Enormotron in naught but giant sunglasses and a Never2L8 tank top. I've not seen anything like it before. 46 minutes into the match, the referee signaled for a Grilled substitution.
Gandhik Chitre came on for
Chad Thach. 2 - 3 was the score after 51 minutes, when Grilled's
Ibnou Balde cut through the central defense and pounded one in. Grilled made it 2 - 4 as
Aw Keng Chuan knocked the corner kick to
Damian Hutter who whipped a low drive in off the far post. Gotta love friendly woodwork! Central attacks were the recipe of the day for Grilled, and they were successfully passing the ball from the wing into the middle at the behest of their coach. After 69 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for
Phua Ming Xin who increased Grilled's lead to 2 - 5. With the clock showing 70 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board.
Lim An Keng looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for
Chia Kwang Tse, though he would have liked to continue. After 78 minutes, Grilled's
Joe Reece burst through the central defense and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 2 - 6. Grilled came close to extending their lead as
Orest Tokarz delivered a low effort on goal from the right but the angle was too sharp, and the shot was destined for the side netting. The referee showed Jostakovic's
Vic Ramoudt the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
Federico Parada could have added one to the visitors' lead if his free kick had gone just a little lower. 85 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Joe Reece gave
Chan Ze Han a quick hug as he left the field. The fourth official announced that there would be 2 minutes of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. The match ends 2 - 6. Now to our celebrity commentator for a hot take. Over to you, Snoop! Jostakovic's best player was
Duco Van Landuyt. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because
Gatien Blaimont seemed to stumble all over the pitch.
Chan Ze Han performed admirably for Grilled. Speaking of stinking up the place,
Damian Hutter sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham.
