After 38 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as Tampines found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to weak (4). Mohd Marzuki Khairul increased the lead for Grilled to 3 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it! It was 3 - 0 at the break. Grilled had most of the ball, with 67 percent of possession.

Despite his frustration resulting in the smashing of a few teacups, the coach of Tampines was able to get his message across, and raised Tampines's organisation to solid (7). Mohd Fikri Abdul Hamid would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. Ng Yun Shi entered the game for Tampines as the match clock showed 60 minutes. As Mohd Fikri Abdul Hamid left the field, the coach signaled to Ng Yun Shi to be the new set pieces taker. 70 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Tampines substitution. Peh Li Han came on for Che Mirza Rafiqin. After 74 minutes, the defensive line of Tampines created a counterattack through the middle that gave Chen Rong Feng a good look at the goal, but his shot glanced harmlessly off the crossbar.
