flaminham international fielded a 3-5-2 lineup. For Grilled Birds, the formation of choice was a 2-5-3. Grilled saw most attack opportunities on the wings by using their titanic (15) ability to push the attack in the right direction.
Julián Vijil missed a penalty shot...but wait! The referee signaled that the keeper had come off his line too early. He didn't miss the second time, though, and international took the lead in minute 14, making the score 1 - 0. After more pushing and shoving than a pack of helicopter moms trying to get the last appointment for their snowflakes to see the Easter Bunny, international's
Trần Đình Luân finally got himself booked for a foul. international's coach was furious with
Samai Khun after he picked up a yellow for saying one too many words to the ref. It was obvious that Grilled had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle. With 22 minutes played, the visitors almost leveled the score.
Chan Ze Han shot a hard curved free kick, but it struck the post. It was 1 - 0 at the break. Grilled did a good job holding on to the ball, with 59 percent of possession. We'll be back after these interminable commercial messages.
As the 60 minute mark approached, the Grilled manager decided it was time for a substitution.
Mohd Marzuki Khairul reluctantly made way for
Federico Parada. 60 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Gandhik Chitre gave
Orest Tokarz a quick hug as he left the field.
Orest Tokarz finished off a quick charge from the left of the field by chipping the ball just over the home side's keeper, making the score 1 - 1 68 minutes into the game. Grilled were determined to attack down the sideline and their central attempts were constantly abandoned in favor of the wings.
Orest Tokarz let loose a good shot after 73 minutes, coming in on a fine move from the left, but the ball went wide.
Pedro Gaspar Ferreira Pais looked great 76 minutes in after stopping a shot by the visitors'
Orest Tokarz. A mistake by the home side's central defense after 78 minutes allowed
Chad Thach to score for Grilled. The visitors have the lead, 1 - 2. After 80 minutes, Grilled's lack of experience resulted in the team's loss of their edge at the end of the game. 85 minutes into the match, the referee signaled for a Grilled substitution.
Ibnou Balde came on for
Joe Reece.
Pedro Gaspar Ferreira Pais got a fingertip on
Damian Hutter's shot from the left 86 minutes in, and managed to keep the visitors from going up another goal. As the match nears its end, the referee deemed it appropriate to add 1 minutes as stoppage time. The match ends 1 - 2. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that Grilled would have 59 percent possession in this half was spot on!
international's top performer was clearly
Julián Vijil. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by
Samai Khun today. Most important Grilled player was
Chan Ze Han. I can't remember
Damian Hutter ever having a worse night than he just had.
