Grilled 3 - 4 amygdala

The crowd of 3549 turning up at The Cooking Pot today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain. Fadi Ibrahim was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Robin Goldbach and Harvijs Bērziņš. While a boggy pitch like this was an advantage for physical players, it really didn't help those who relied on speed or technique. Grilled fielded: Germanakos - Mangoye, Hutter - Ferzan, Thach, Khairul, An Keng, Parada - Reece, Ze Han, Chuan Yong.

The following players took the field for amygdala: Puggioni - Aarnio, Fernandes Torres - Abbasi, Pati, Broll, Hörnell, Moustapha - Fetescu, Derosi, Joost.

Both teams came out with a similar approach to the match, having chosen to start with a 2-5-3 formation. Grilled demonstrated their supernatural (14) creative tactics on the field. The guests took the lead 12 minutes into the match, after a right-side attack resulted in Maurizio Pati scoring to make it 0 - 1. With clinical precision, the cross from winger Egemen Dinçer Ferzan found its way to Joe Reece's head, and a screaming header gave Grilled the goal after 20 minutes played. 1 - 1 The terraces were silenced after 26 minutes when amygdala's Malek Moustapha put the guests ahead 1 - 2, following an attack on the right. The home crowd was not impressed when Casimiro Joost came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 27 minutes. amygdala were now up 1 - 3. Chad Thach almost reduced the deficit, having drawn the entire left side defence away, but the shot went straight into the arms of the goalkeeper. Halftime score was 1 - 3. Possession in this half belonged to amygdala, who controlled the ball 53 percent of the time.

Grilled's Chad Thach cut towards the middle after 48 minutes, receiving a brilliant pass and slicing through the visiting team's central defence, reducing the lead to 2 - 3. Chan Ze Han charged down the left and had a wonderful opportunity to score the equaliser for Grilled, but the shot went well wide of the goal. 60 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution. Orest Tokarz came on for Teo Chuan Yong. 60 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Joe Reece gave Ibnou Balde a quick hug as he left the field. Federico Parada's early cross saw the defenders caught out of position and the alert Mohd Marzuki Khairul was able to pounce and roll the ball past the hapless goalkeeper to score for Grilled. 3 - 3. 62 minutes had elapsed when a great chance for Grilled to take the lead after a good cross from the right found Egemen Dinçer Ferzan alone with the keeper, but he chipped it to the wrong side of the post. 67 minutes into the match, amygdala nearly took the lead, as Casimiro Joost broke through on the right. Dimitris Germanakos made the save, however. With 71 minutes played Mohd Marzuki Khairul almost put the home team one ahead on a cross coming in from the right, but the shot went just wide. As the 85 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution. Atang Mangoye reluctantly made way for Gilbert Webb on the pitch. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 2 minutes beyond the regular 90 minutes. Still tied after 92 minutes, the match continued into extra time. amygdala had most of the ball, with 51 percent of possession.

With 112 minutes played, the visitors broke through on the right after some poor defending. Casimiro Joost put the ball away for 3 - 4. amygdala's Pietro Derosi got himself booked for a foul. Grilled tried to even things up by sending a long ball towards the centrally placed strikers, but the visitors' defence got the best of this rather direct style of play. amygdala's Nestor Fetescu was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 117 minutes. The match ends 3 - 4. The most dominating Grilled player was without a doubt Lim An Keng. Gilbert Webb on the other hand, had a terrible day. Casimiro Joost performed admirably for amygdala. Malek Moustapha turned in a dismal performance, however.
