Grilled Birds fielded a 2-5-3 lineup. For Nutwood County, the formation of choice was a 3-5-2. After 32 minutes, Nutwood's
Massimiliano 'The Wizard' Raffini ran past
Hwang Teck Fu like he was standing still to put away the 0 - 1 goal. No matter how hard he tried,
Chad Thach just couldn't get past the visitors' right side defense 33 minutes in and eventually the ball was cleared away. After 34 minutes Nutwood nearly put themselves up another goal from a penalty taken by
Ronald Haraldsson, but the keeper made an unbelievable save.
Chad Thach was just a finger's width away from an equalizer for Grilled with a strike from the left, but
Kamchybek Barkan Uulu managed to deflect the shot out for a corner. After 40 minutes Grilled were able to score the equalizing 1 - 1 goal when
Chan Ze Han picked up a pass coming in from the right and lofted it past the away team's keeper.
Chan Ze Han's name was chanted throughout the stadium after his goal in minute 41 following a run up the middle gave Grilled the 2 - 1 lead. After a play down the right 42 minutes into the match, Grilled's
Chan Ze Han unleashed a ferocious shot that smashed into the roof of the net - after going over the crossbar. The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 1. Let's go to the Twittersphere to see what the fans think of the game so far! says The home side's
Egemen Diner Ferzan came close to extending the lead after 51 minutes. His shot came in from the right but
Kamchybek Barkan Uulu managed to push it wide with his fingertips. With 53 minutes played,
Aw Keng Chuan could have brought this one home for Grilled as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high. After 71 minutes, Grilled's lack of experience resulted in the team's loss of their edge at the end of the game. 80 minutes into the match, the referee signaled for a Grilled substitution.
Joe Reece came on for
Chan Ze Han. With
Chan Ze Han no longer on the field,
Aw Keng Chuan was the new set pieces taker.
Federico Parada became the new Grilled captain. Big paper red cards were being held up by the opposing supporters with 82 minutes on the clock after
Seb Allen's mistimed tackle from behind. The referee only showed the Nutwood player a yellow card though. Despite the fact that he was falling backwards,
Dov Kital still managed to send an excellent header goalwards. The crossbar is the keeper's best friend though, and the ball bounced harmlessly out of play. 85 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Damian Hutter gave
Gilbert Webb a quick hug as he left the field. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 1 minutes of added time, they welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. The match ends 2 - 1. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that Grilled would have 51 percent possession in this half was spot on!
Aw Keng Chuan performed admirably for Grilled. I can't remember
Gilbert Webb ever having a worse night than he just had. Most important Nutwood player was
Seb Allen. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because
Oddgeir slaugsson seemed to stumble all over the pitch.
