Snohodez 0 - 7 Grilled
12000 spectators had found their way to
Snohodez Arena, despite the heavy rain.
Ayman Kurdi was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Sajid Akram and
Benedicto Concepcin. The wet pitch made it difficult for technical or quick players to stand out. For once, the players relying on physical strength gained the upper hand. The following players had been chosen by Snohodez:
Kumar -
Puay Feng,
Kiong Wei,
Jin Shun -
Lee,
Thahir,
Loh,
Eng,
Wan Kim -
How Da,
John.
Grilled's lineup was:
Germanakos -
Panigrahi,
Hutter -
Ferzan,
Thach,
Keng Chuan,
An Keng,
Parada -
Reece,
Balde,
Ze Han.
The teams had chosen different formations for the match. Home team Snohodez went for 3-5-2 while Grilled Birds has decided to play a 2-5-3 lineup. After 4 minutes, Grilled put themselves up 0 - 1, as
Damian Hutter finished off a strike from the left with a real cannonball of a shot. Some fine movement on the left led to a Grilled goal after 13 minutes, making it 0 - 2.
Federico Parada was noted down as the scorer. 23 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 3 as
Chan Ze Han finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. The corner kick from
Chan Ze Han was powerfully met by the head of
Joe Reece to make the score 0 - 4.
Joe Reece was, after 32 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the centre, but the home side's keeper
Abhishek Kumar made the save. The referee showed Snohodez's
Lim Wan Kim the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. 36 minutes into the match,
Joe Reece came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 4. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 74 percent of possession.
As the 46 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution.
Ibnou Balde reluctantly made way for
Orest Tokarz on the pitch. After the ball was lifted in from the left,
Federico Parada was on his own in the home side's penalty area and should have scored after 49 minutes, but missed, probably due to lack of concentration. A drive down the left side allowed
Damian Hutter to get in close and score another goal for Grilled after 50 minutes, taking the score to 0 - 5. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
Aw Keng Chuan from Grilled a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 57 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! After suffering a nasty injury to his right calf muscle,
Leow Jin Shun left the field in tears. The unfortunate accident happened 57 minutes into the match. This gave
Sng Ying Yeng a chance to take to the field instead.
Hanis Thahir was handed the Snohodez captain's armband. 60 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution.
Gilbert Webb came on for
Bhavya Panigrahi.
Joe Reece of Grilled took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 68 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 0 - 6. After 72 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for
Aw Keng Chuan who increased Grilled's lead to 0 - 7. With 73 minutes played,
Lim An Keng nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar. After 89 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
Chan Ze Han off the field.
Kalki Parvathaneni took his place. As
Chan Ze Han exited the field,
Gilbert Webb volunteered to be the new set pieces taker. The Grilled captaincy was handed to
Kalki Parvathaneni. As the match nears its end, the referee has deemed it appropriate to add 4 minutes as stoppage time. The match ends 0 - 7. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 73 percent.
Most important Snohodez player was
Ler How Da. However,
Abhishek Kumar made a disastrous appearance. Grilled's best player was
Aw Keng Chuan.
Gilbert Webb was a disappointment, however.
