Grilled 3 - 1 Ravenator

Clouds darkened the skies at the stadium today. They fielded: Germanakos - Panigrahi, Webb - Baena, Mohammad Harun, Keng Chuan, Parvathaneni, Trindade - Ze Han, Velho, Chitre.

Lineup: Drouillard - Tasziló, Lucarelli, Róbertsson - Loftsson, Kalandyk, Vilugrón, Zęga, Sveinsson - Egilsson, Lorenzini.

The teams had chosen different formations for the match. The home team, Grilled Birds, went for a 2-5-3, while Nordstar Ravens F.C. has decided to play a 3-5-2 lineup. Grilled used their mythical (17) ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the field. Gilbert Webb is making an astonishing dash. The fans are chanting his name. You can hear it reverberate around the stadium. Now a manic sprint up the middle and into the box. Oh! He's thrown open the door! He's thrown open the door, shot the ball through, and slammed the door shut on Mr. Tumnus! Grilled has taken the lead 2 minutes into the match, 1 to 0. There'll be no Turkish Delight after the match for the keeper! Chan Ze Han should probably have put his team up another goal after 5 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by Jean-Mathieu Drouillard kept the visitors in the game. After 11 minutes, speedy Árni Egilsson dashed past his marker, making plenty of room for the second wave of attack. However, Margeir Sveinsson failed to score. Grilled's Bhavya Panigrahi had an excellent opportunity 23 minutes in, shooting after bringing down a ball from the right, but he missed the goal by miles! Everyone had expected a shot from the free kick 24 minutes into the game, but Grilled sent the ball sideways instead, giving Gandhik Chitre a clear look at goal with no wall in his way. He sent it through the keeper's legs for 2 - 0! With 25 minutes gone, Ravenator replied and reduced the lead to 2 - 1. Luciano Vilugrón scored after a marvelous cross from the left. It was 2 - 1 at the break. Well, look at this! Cardi B is on the Enormotron in naught but giant sunglasses, red tassles, and a Millinocket Moose tank top. I've not seen anything like it before. With the clock showing 46 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board. Kalki Parvathaneni looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for Lim An Keng, though he would have liked to continue. 46 minutes into the match, the referee signaled for a Grilled substitution. Prokop Mottl came on for José Luiz Velho. Grilled solidified their lead at the 47 minute mark, as Gandhik Chitre snaked the ball through the central line of defense and finished for 3 - 1. Grilled's Paulino Trindade saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates 55 minutes in. Ágúst Loftsson was doing a great job on the wing, sending in a brilliant pass to his teammates in the middle, but Árni Egilsson seemed unable to profit from this excellent service. A great save by keeper Jean-Mathieu Drouillard with 61 minutes gone kept the visitors in the game after Chan Ze Han struck from the left with a real cannonball. After more pushing and shoving than a pack of helicopter moms trying to get the last appointment for their snowflakes to see the Easter Bunny, Grilled's Enrique Baena finally got himself booked for a foul. Grilled's Paulino Trindade swung in a good chance from the left, but the visitors' defense were able to clear the ball. As the 80 minute mark approached, the Grilled manager decided it was time for a substitution. Gandhik Chitre reluctantly made way for Teo Chuan Yong. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 1 minutes of added time, they welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. Dániel Tasziló had a good opportunity to reply with a break through the middle, but the home team's goalkeeper Dimitris Germanakos just wouldn't be beat. The match ends 3 - 1. Grilled set the tempo, maintaining 58 percent of possession.

Grilled's top performer was clearly Chan Ze Han. Speaking of stinking up the place, Enrique Baena sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham. The most outstanding Ravenator player was without a doubt Luciano Vilugrón. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because Jean-Mathieu Drouillard seemed to stumble all over the pitch.
