Grilled made a bid to take the lead as a ball coming in on the right hand side left Chan Ze Han completely alone with keeper Desiderio Cousido, who made a spectacular block. BOTT caught their opponents out with a clever counter-attack down the right wing 22 minutes into the game. Kalle Henriksson was there to finish off the move - 0 - 1! BOTT's Zavareh Eslami was shown a yellow card after 23 minutes for slicing down an opponent. 0 - 1 was the score after the first half. Grilled set the tempo, maintaining 51 percent of possession.

As the 46 minute mark approached, the Grilled manager decided it was time for a substitution. Kalki Parvathaneni reluctantly made way for Lim An Keng. Grilled's Gilbert Webb tried to break through the middle repeatedly, but the visitors' defenders were just too alert. 64 minutes had elapsed when a great chance for Grilled to take the lead after a good ball from the right found Chan Ze Han alone with the keeper, but he chipped it to the wrong side of the post. After 65 minutes, the BOTT coach wanted to see a new face on the field, waving Zavareh Eslami off. Mayuresh Shah took his place. Kalle Henriksson was handed the BOTT captain's armband.
