Grilled 7 - 3 Indipendiente
Weather conditions were fairly good for football at the stadium today. The following players took the field:
Germanakos -
Panigrahi,
Webb -
Baena,
Mohammad Harun,
Keng Chuan,
Parvathaneni,
Trindade -
Ze Han,
Velho,
Xin Seng.
The following players had been selected:
Sugianto -
Liedér,
Roussel -
Çalkın,
Raun,
Soares Monteiro,
Ababu,
Pernatsch -
Cabeça Branca,
Frota,
dos Santos.
Both teams came out with a similar approach to the match, having chosen to start with a 2-5-3 formation. Grilled seemed to prefer attacking in the middle, using their utopian (19) ability to great effect. Grilled made a bid to take the lead as a ball coming in on the right hand side left
Aw Keng Chuan completely alone with keeper
Prakoso Sugianto, who made a spectacular block. Grilled's
Paulino Trindade was dominating his wing and kept sending fine balls into the opposing area -
Bilal Mohammad Harun managed to kick one of them into the net for 1 - 0 after 9 minutes. Cheers filled the stadium as
Bhavya Panigrahi broke through the visitors' central defense to put away the 2 - 0 goal for Grilled.
José Luiz Velho gave Grilled supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 3 - 0 after 21 minutes, following a good exchange of passes on the right that the away team failed to deal with.
Nassor Ababu's long shot really ought to have found the net for Indipendiente after 22 minutes, but it fell just wide of the target. Grilled added another goal to their lead as
Bilal Mohammad Harun struck home for 4 - 0 after an attack from the left set him up unmarked in front of the keeper. Indipendiente's right side looked dangerous after 26 minutes, as
Marek Raun broke through.
Dimitris Germanakos continued to stifle them, however, as he made the save look easy. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for Grilled, and they were successfully passing the ball from the wing into the middle at the behest of their coach.
Chan Ze Han should probably have put his team up another goal after 27 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by
Prakoso Sugianto kept the visitors in the game.
Aw Keng Chuan tipped the corner kick right to the keeper, who mishandled it, giving Grilled's
Bilal Mohammad Harun a chance to knock it in for 5 - 0. At that,
Bilal Mohammad Harun was noted down for a hattrick! With 37 minutes gone, Indipendiente replied and reduced the lead to 5 - 1.
Carlos Soares Monteiro scored after a marvelous cross from the left. The teams went for the halftime break at 5 - 1. Grilled set the tempo, maintaining 53 percent of possession.
46 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Kalki Parvathaneni gave
Lim An Keng a quick hug as he left the field. 46 minutes into the match, the referee signaled for a Grilled substitution.
Prokop Mottl came on for
José Luiz Velho. 50 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defense had to look on as
Prokop Mottl ran straight through, knocking one home to make it 6 - 1 for Grilled. Grilled managed to extend their lead to 7 - 1 when
Prokop Mottl slid in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. As the 60 minute mark approached, the Indipendiente manager decided it was time for a substitution.
Tiago Domingos dos Santos reluctantly made way for
Albertino Mateus. With 71 minutes played,
Nassor Ababu had a fantastic opportunity to reply but his shot from the middle nicked the post and went out. The visitors' right side was dangerous today;
Albertino Mateus made the home team's keeper look foolish as he easily scored, reducing the gap to 7 - 2 after 74 minutes. After 80 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the field, waving
Bilal Mohammad Harun off.
Chia Kwang Tse took his place. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 3 beyond the regular 90 minutes. The visitors replied 90 minutes into the game, reducing the lead to 7 - 3, as
Albertino Mateus dashed up the middle and chipped the ball over the home team's keeper. The match ends 7 - 3. This part of the game was a standoff between the teams as far as possession.
Grilled's best player was
Chan Ze Han. Good thing
Paulino Trindade isn't a horse, because he'd surely be sent to the glue factory after that performance.
Raimundo Frota performed admirably for Indipendiente. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because
Prakoso Sugianto seemed to stumble all over the pitch.
