Elephants 4 - 1 Grilled

It was a cloudy day at the stadium today. Lineup: Kyung - Naccarato, Karolak, Seliger - Calquinhas, Carminati, Romaniuc, Peralta, Santos - Pantelakos, Gregor.

Starters: Germanakos - Panigrahi, Webb - Baena, Mohammad Harun, Keng Chuan, Chuan Yong, Parvathaneni - Xin Seng, Velho, Ze Han.

The teams had chosen different formations for the match. The home team, Rasta Elephants FC, went for a 3-5-2, while Grilled Birds has decided to play a 2-5-3 lineup. A brilliant (11) level of counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Elephants. Grilled seemed to prefer attacking in the middle, using their divine (20) ability to great effect. Grilled's Enrique Baena was shown a yellow card after 14 minutes for slicing down an opponent. The referee showed Elephants's Belmiro Calquinhas the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. The visitors' central defense should have had no trouble clearing the pass to Takis Pantelakos, but the Elephants player managed to shrug them off and fire a low shot that 5-holed the keeper to give his team the lead. 1 - 0! The game was close to savage at times, and Grilled's Enrique Baena received a second yellow card after 30 minutes; his ticket to the dressing rooms. 33 minutes had passed when Elephants put themselves up 2 - 0 after the visiting defenders lost the ball to Ferenc Gregor, who came up from the left and proceeded to easily go around the goalkeeper and knock the ball home. It was 2 - 0 at the break. Well, look at this! Cardi B is on the Enormotron in naught but giant sunglasses, red tassles, and a Disgustin tank top. I've not seen anything like it before. After 46 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the field, waving Kalki Parvathaneni off. Mohd Marzuki Khairul took his place. Gian Maria Naccarato was not content with his team's lead, and tried to extend it 57 minutes into the game after a nice run through the middle, but his shot went wide. Sometimes the only way to stop a counter-attack is with a foul. Elephants took full advantage as Diego Peralta unleashed a rocket from the resulting free kick making it 3 - 0. With the clock showing 75 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board. Aw Keng Chuan looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for Lim An Keng, though he would have liked to continue. Loureno Santos of Elephants received a yellow card after 80 minutes for unsportsmanlike behavior. The visitors replied 86 minutes into the game, reducing the lead to 3 - 1, as Chan Ze Han dashed up the middle and chipped the ball over the home team's keeper. The fourth official announced that there would be 2 minutes of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. With 89 minutes gone, Elephants's organization began to suffer due to a lack of experience. Things were going from bad to worse for the visitors. Takis Pantelakos was able to squirm through the central defense after 89 minutes and score, bringing the lead to 4 - 1. The match ends 4 - 1. Grilled set the tempo, maintaining 54 percent of possession.

Elephants's best player was Ferenc Gregor. I can't remember Loureno Santos ever having a worse night than he just had. The most outstanding Grilled player was without a doubt Chan Ze Han. Good thing Bhavya Panigrahi isn't a horse, because he'd surely be sent to the glue factory after that performance.
