Grilled 4 - 4 Santas
The spectators at the stadium today were in for an afternoon of sunshine. It was a very hot day and some players suffered from this, especially those relying on tough physical play or a lot of fast runs. For the technical ones, on the other hand, this was ideal conditions. The following players had been selected:
Germanakos -
Panigrahi,
Webb -
Baena,
Mohammad Harun,
Keng Chuan,
Chuan Yong,
Thach -
Ze Han,
Velho,
Xin Seng.
They fielded:
Winger -
Grandy,
Lugonjič -
Al Ansari,
Zouhdy,
Vuong,
Martín,
Reichwald -
Musgrave,
Tuấn Anh,
Deijkers.
As the teams spread out over the pitch, it became clear that they would both be using a 2-5-3 formation today. Santas's
Domenik Reichwald gave the visitors a 0 - 1 lead after 9 minutes with a superb strike from the right. Around 14 minutes into the match,
Isai Vuong used his impressive physique to maintain complete control over his defensive midfield. This caused an Grilled attack to fizzle out with a whimper.
José Luiz Velho was just a finger's width away from an equalizer for Grilled with a strike from the left, but
Dylan Winger managed to deflect the shot out for a corner. The crowd was on its feet at the 28 minute mark, as Grilled's
Teo Chuan Yong found himself all alone in front of the goal after a dash up the left side. He calmly put away the 1 - 1 equalizer. A mistake by the home side's central defense after 29 minutes allowed
Hà Tuấn Anh to score for Santas. The visitors have the lead, 1 - 2. The crowd roared in delight as
Gilbert Webb finished off a spectacular series of plays up the middle to even the score for Grilled after 36 minutes. 2 - 2. 2 - 2 was the halftime score. Grilled did a good job holding on to the ball, with 60 percent of possession. We'll be back after these interminable commercial messages.
Grilled were very close to putting themselves one up with 51 minutes gone as
Chan Ze Han got through on the left, but a lapse in concentration sent the ball wide. Though it was beautiful soccer, the home crowd did not enjoy
Labib Al Ansari's goal after a run down the left with 57 minutes on the clock. Santas lead, 2 - 3. Due to some great work on the right wing Grilled's
Enrique Baena was able to even the score 57 minutes in to 3 - 3. As the 70 minute mark approached, the Grilled manager decided it was time for a substitution.
Enrique Baena reluctantly made way for
Paulino Trindade. 70 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Aw Keng Chuan gave
Mohd Marzuki Khairul a quick hug as he left the field. With 75 minutes gone, Santas's organization began to suffer due to a lack of experience. The visiting
Will Musgrave was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 77 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 3 - 4 was the score.
Matej Lugonjič really should have scored when he was chosen by fate to confront a wide open goal following a great flick by
Domenik Reichwald after a corner. 85 minutes into the match, the referee signaled for a Grilled substitution.
Hwang Teck Fu came on for
Chad Thach. It was announced by the fourth official that he estimated stoppage time to be around 2 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! After a fatal mistake from the away team's right side defense 89 minutes into the match, an alert
Chan Ze Han poked the ball past the keeper, bringing Grilled level at 4 - 4. The match ends 4 - 4. Well, look at this! Cardi B is on the Enormotron in naught but giant sunglasses, red tassles, and a Disgustin tank top. I've not seen anything like it before.
Chan Ze Han performed admirably for Grilled. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because
Hwang Teck Fu seemed to stumble all over the pitch. The most outstanding Santas player was without a doubt
Hà Tuấn Anh. Speaking of stinking up the place,
Dylan Winger sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham.
