Grilled 2 - 1 Samuraii

The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 2185 had shown up at The Cooking Pot for the match. Shahid Bu Shaihrai was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Henri Kipponen and Valentin Wegscheider. Grilled fielded: Law - Keng Chuan, Mohammad Harun, Tran - Trindade, An Keng, Chu Soon, Khairul, Baena - Velho, Mottl.

The following players had been chosen by Samuraii: 余語 (Yogo) - 大賀 (Oga), 吉尾 (Yoshio), 風間 (Kazama), 松尾 (Matsuo), 橋本 (Hashimoto) - 中平 (Nakahira), 蛭田 (Hiruta), Naddafian, 大沢 (Osawa), 大河 (Okawa) -.

The teams had chosen different formations for the match. Home team Grilled Birds went for 3-5-2 while Borussia Dortmund 09 2020 has decided to play a 5-5-0 lineup. Grilled clearly preferred using their supernatural (14) ability to attack in the middle. The strategy for Samuraii was to use their inadequate (5) ability to press. 9 minutes in, the unpredictable Enrique Baena of Grilled turned and curled the ball towards goal, but it flew inches wide of the post, almost taking out a member of the crowd! Samuraii mounted an inspired counterattack down the right wing after 10 minutes, but 裕二 (Yuji) 松尾 (Matsuo) was unable to convert from short range. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for Grilled, as they moved the ball from the wings to the middle with startling regularity. Grilled took the lead 15 minutes into the game by 1 - 0, as Lim An Keng elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar. 23 minutes into the game, Samuraii seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a solid (7) level of organisation. Grilled had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle attacks. Halftime score was 1 - 0. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 66 percent.

During the break, Samuraii's coach went through the team's tactics yet again, getting them up to solid (7) organisation. 46 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Lim An Keng gave Chia Kwang Tse a quick hug as he left the field. After 64 minutes, Samuraii sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached 大将 (Hiromasa) 中平 (Nakahira), who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot - 1 - 1. After 65 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving Dante Tran off the field. Gilbert Webb took his place. 65 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution. Teo Chuan Yong came on for José Luiz Velho. At this time in the match, Samuraii were using their skill at pressing to successfully stifle the game. Around 78 minutes into the match, Nader Naddafian used his impressive physique to maintain complete control over his defensive midfield. This caused an Grilled attack to fizzle out with a whimper. 82 minutes into the game, Samuraii seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to solid (7). Samuraii's talent at pressing frustrated the spectators as the game became a dire midfield struggle. Samuraii's 慎矢 (Shinya) 橋本 (Hashimoto) was shown a yellow card after 85 minutes for slicing down an opponent. The referee announced 1 minute of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. After the regular 91 minutes, the agony of extra time followed. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 70 percent of the ball.

As the 91 minute mark approached, the Samuraii coach decided it was time for a substitution. 昌平 (Shohei) 'Indestructible' 余語 (Yogo) reluctantly made way for 亮介 (Ryosuke) 武田 (Takeda) on the pitch. Priding himself in being an active coach, the Samuraii manager gave new instructions to his players after 91 minutes. The Samuraii players spent the break getting a rerun of the team's tactical organisation and regained a solid (7) organisation when the game started again. Given a free kick close to the byline, Grilled tried a move that loyal fans may recognise from training. A pass to the side pulled the defence out of position which let Prokop Mottl slip through on goal. He didn't have to break his stride, and slipped the ball past the keeper to make it 2 - 1, 98 minutes into the game. Nader Naddafian of Samuraii was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. After 103 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by Paulino Trindade might have resulted in another goal for Grilled. However, 亮介 (Ryosuke) 武田 (Takeda) made a spectacular save. Mohd Marzuki Khairul should probably have put his team up another goal after 108 minutes after breaking through the middle, but some great goalkeeping by 亮介 (Ryosuke) 武田 (Takeda) kept the visitors in the game. The match ends 2 - 1. The most dominating Grilled player was without a doubt Prokop Mottl. On the other hand, Enrique Baena's play was disheartening. 和紀 (Kazuki) 蛭田 (Hiruta) performed admirably for Samuraii. However, 瑛 (Akira) 'Lonely Wolf' 大河 (Okawa) made a disastrous appearance.
