Turtles all the way down entered the field in a 3-4-3 formation. The visitors, Grilled Birds, chose to start the game with a 3-5-2 lineup. Grilled mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle, taking advantage of their magnificent (12) level with that tactic. Turtles took the lead 12 minutes in, as Orest Pioterek broke through on the left and put the 1 - 0 shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper. Following a brutal collision in the 19, Grilled's Atang Mangoye complained of a damaged shoulder. The medics took a look and immediately ordered a substitution. Chan Ze Han tried to hide a smile as he entered the field. He had not expected to get a chance this day. Sebastian Turschl had a fantastic opportunity to put Turtles up another goal 21 minutes into the match after a pass through the middle set him free, but he fired just over the crossbar. Jürgen Prinz increased the lead for Turtles to 2 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it! Sebastian Turschl was the first to reach the corner kick, but his header was blocked by the keeper. However, Turtles's Jürgen Prinz managed to get hold of the rebound and tucked the ball into the empty net. 3 - 0 The visitors got a chance to pull one back after 28 minutes, as the home defence went to sleep, leaving Chan Ze Han completely unmarked in the middle. His strike was pathetic though, and dribbled into the arms of the home side's keeper. A bit later, Grilled's Abd Hadi Taib Mazhud easily reduced the lead to 3 - 1 after a misunderstanding in the home side's central defence. 3 - 1 was the score after the first half. Turtles had most of the ball, with 56 percent of possession.

José Luiz Velho would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. Vikram Mudaliar entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 46 minutes. Around 63 minutes into the match, Lau Chu Soon used his impressive physique to maintain complete control over his defensive midfield. This caused an Turtles attack to fizzle out with a whimper. There was a promising attack by Turtles after 67 minutes, but it was ultimately closed down by the powerful presence of Lau Chu Soon. The visitors replied 71 minutes into the game, reducing the home side's lead to 3 - 2, as Chad Thach dashed up the middle, easily lobbing the ball over the home team's keeper. Turtles increased the lead as Lech Chruściński struck to make the score 4 - 2 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper. Cheers filled the stadium as Orest Pioterek broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 5 - 2 to Turtles. With 81 minutes played, Patrick Nalube of Turtles fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. Gilbert Webb was in no condition to play on. He left the field limping after 84 minutes, with his right thigh bandaged. Aw Keng Chuan had already been warming up, and came on for Gilbert Webb. As Gilbert Webb left the field, the coach signaled to Chan Ze Han to be the new set pieces taker. Chan Ze Han became the new Grilled captain. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 4 minutes beyond the regular 90 minutes. The match ends 5 - 2. Possession in this half belonged to Turtles, who controlled the ball 53 percent of the time.

Turtles's best player was Patrizio Tombini. On the other hand, Alexander Schranner's play was disheartening. Chan Ze Han performed admirably for Grilled. Dante Tran was a disappointment, however.
