Grilled Birds trundled out to the pitch in a 2-5-3 formation. The visitors, KFC Tielen, chose to start the game with a 4-5-1 lineup. Grilled used their divine (+4) (24) ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the field. Like this humble reporter trying to score a date with Charlotte McKinney, Tielen enjoyed the Long Shots today, demonstrating their divine (20) skill at it.
Vikram Mudaliar's well-known speed was on display as he darted past his defender and sent a beautiful pass through the defender’s legs to
Chan Ze Han who scored the 1 - 0 goal. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Grilled's
Chan Ze Han bringing the lead up to 2 - 0. With 33 minutes played,
Toon 'De Tank' De Deyn had a fantastic opportunity to reply but his shot from the middle nicked the post and went out. Tielen focused on finding shooting opportunities from distance and after 34 minutes
Aleksi Tolonen fired off the big cannon, but the shot went sailing over the cross bar and almost cleared the stands! Tielen's
Toon 'De Tank' De Deyn was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 37 minutes. Halftime score was 2 - 0. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that Tielen would have 52 percent possession in this half was spot on!
67 minutes in,
François Degheldere made an incredible run up the middle and nearly reduced the home side's lead, but
Jānis Salmiņš refused to let the ball slip by him.
Louis Devaere held up a Tielen attack after 69 minutes, waited until
François Degheldere was in shooting position, and then elegantly set him up.
François Degheldere didn't disappoint his teammates, and from a long way out he curled the ball around the keeper with precision making it 2 - 1. After 80 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the field, waving
Kalki Parvathaneni off.
Heng Dong Chu took his place. 80 minutes into the match, the referee signaled for a Grilled substitution.
Sølve Lunde came on for
Douglas Carapaica. After 84 minutes Tielen showed the crowd a glorious passing play which put
Briek De Jaeger in a perfect shooting position. His low hard shot was just as delightful, placed just inside the keeper's right post making it 2 - 2. 85 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Shekar Kannan gave
Radovan Jaška a quick hug as he left the field. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 1 beyond the regular 90 minutes. 89 minutes into the game,
Toon 'De Tank' De Deyn almost gave the visitors the lead, as he chipped a delicate lob over the keeper, but the ball glanced harmlessly off the crossbar. After 89 minutes, Tielen began to show their lack of experience and they threatened to wilt under the heavy pressure from their opposition. Some great play up the middle by Grilled led to a chance for
Abd Hadi Taib Mazhud to get the go-ahead goal with 89 minutes played, but the shot hit the crossbar. The match ends 2 - 2. Well, look at this! Cardi B is on the Enormotron in naught but giant sunglasses, red tassles, and a Disgustin tank top. I've not seen anything like it before. Grilled's top performer was clearly
Abd Hadi Taib Mazhud. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because
Radovan Jaška seemed to stumble all over the pitch. Most important Tielen player was
Rando Pentjärv. Good thing
François Degheldere isn't a horse, because he'd surely be sent to the glue factory after that performance.
