Many thought Chu Xin Lee ought to have been awarded a penalty 13 minutes into the match, as he went down trying to beat José Luis Palafox Luna after an attack through the middle gave him the one-on-one opportunity. After 15 minutes cheers broke out as Kalki Parvathaneni found his way through the guests' central defensive line, rattling the 1 - 0 goal in off the woodwork for Grilled. Baligh 'Ayatollah' AlAlami finished off a quick charge from the left of the field by chipping the ball just over the home side's keeper, making the score 1 - 1 25 minutes into the game. The swift technical skills of Chan Ze Han were often too much for the tall but somewhat slow Luis 'The Admiral' Guio who was humiliated after 28 minutes. Grilled set the tempo, maintaining 53 percent of possession.

Grilled's Bhavya Panigrahi had a hard, curved free kick 49 minutes in that would have paid off, had it gone just a little lower. The game had been going for 56 minutes when Chagatai Magnai broke through on the right, upping the score to 1 - 3 for A.E.M, much to the home crowd's dismay. After 71 minutes, A.E.M's lack of experience resulted in the team's loss of their edge at the end of the game. After 73 minutes, Chu Xin Lee of Grilled had a good opportunity to reduce the away team's lead with a chance created through the middle, but he scuffed the ball harmlessly past the post. Luis 'The Admiral' Guio showed why he is feared on the counter-attack, breaking through in the middle and scoring for A.E.M after 74 minutes to make the score 1 - 4. As the 75 minute mark approached, the Grilled manager decided it was time for a substitution. Salah Kamel reluctantly made way for Heng Dong Chu. With the clock showing 80 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board. Chu Xin Lee looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for Teo Chuan Yong, though he would have liked to continue. After 80 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the field, waving Douglas Carapaica off. Gilbert Webb took his place. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 2 beyond the regular 90 minutes. The match ends 1 - 4. Well, look at this!
