The teams had chosen different formations for the match. The home team, Grilled Birds, went for a 2-5-3, while Rutbeek Springboks FC has decided to play a 3-5-2 lineup. Grilled seemed to prefer attacking in the middle, using their divine (+6) (26) ability to great effect. After 3 minutes cheers broke out as
Chan Ze Han found his way through the guests' central defensive line, rattling the 1 - 0 goal in off the woodwork for Grilled. After 17 minutes,
Chan Ze Han put Grilled ahead 2 - 0 when he rose to head in a hooked ball, the result of an effort from the right side.
Bhavya Panigrahi's curling free kick almost found the goal for Grilled, but the visitors' keeper somehow managed to get ahold of it. Cheers filled the stadium as
Chu Xin Lee broke through the visitors' central defense to put away the 3 - 0 goal for Grilled. The referee showed Grilled's
Salah Kamel the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Grilled were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up coming through the center. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Grilled's
Salah Kamel bringing the lead up to 4 - 0. Springboks's
Rüdiger Polly was shown a yellow card after 34 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
It was 4 - 0 at the break. Well, look at this! Cardi B is on the Enormotron in naught but giant sunglasses, red tassles, and a Holy Hand Grenades of Antioch tank top. I've not seen anything like it before.
Abd Hadi Taib Mazhud was not content with his team's lead, and tried to extend it 48 minutes into the game after a nice run through the middle, but his shot went wide. Coming in on the left,
Torsten Olsson did everything right to get a goal for Springboks after 53 minutes, but his curling shot was punched clear by the keeper. After more pushing and shoving than a pack of helicopter moms trying to get the last appointment for their snowflakes to see the Easter Bunny, Grilled's
Douglas Carapaica finally got himself booked for a foul. 70 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defense had to look on as
Douglas Carapaica ran straight through, knocking one home to make it 5 - 0 for Grilled. 75 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Salah Kamel gave
Heng Dong Chu a quick hug as he left the field.
Vikram Mudaliar should probably have put his team up another goal after 76 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by
Asher Worley kept the visitors in the game. With 77 minutes played, Grilled's
Abd Hadi Taib Mazhud received a yellow card for challenging a play with his cleats first.
Ennio Bagnolo nearly reduced the lead 78 minutes into the game, but a splendid one-handed save by
Jānis Salmiņš put an end to the play coming in from the right flank. 80 minutes into the match, the referee signaled for a Grilled substitution.
Teo Chuan Yong came on for
Chu Xin Lee. As the 80 minute mark approached, the Grilled manager decided it was time for a substitution.
Douglas Carapaica reluctantly made way for
Gilbert Webb. As the match nears its end, the referee deemed it appropriate to add 1 minutes as stoppage time. Grilled solidified their lead at the 89 minute mark, as
Kalki Parvathaneni snaked the ball through the central line of defense and finished for 6 - 0. The match ends 6 - 0. Grilled did a good job holding on to the ball, with 59 percent of possession. We'll be back after these interminable commercial messages.
The most outstanding Grilled player was without a doubt
Chan Ze Han. Speaking of stinking up the place,
Bhavya Panigrahi sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham. Springboks's best player was
Asher Worley. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by
Jeroni Roigé today.
