Grilled 2 - 1 Srebrenica

Weather conditions were fairly good for football at the stadium today. They fielded: Salmiņš - Panigrahi, Carapaica - Kannan, Chuan Yong, Parvathaneni, Xin Lee, Kamel - Ze Han, Mudaliar, Xin Seng.

The following players had been selected: Frank - Assem, Negrean, Sauser - Schafrath, Power, Cecchinato, Christodoulou, Pehlivanović - Sosa, Trobbianni.

The teams had chosen different formations for the match. The home team, Grilled Birds, went for a 2-5-3, while Srebrenica 28 division has decided to play a 3-5-2 lineup. Grilled went for a narrow approach, using their divine (+6) (26) ability to focus their attacks down the middle. Always quick and a menace to his opponents, Shekar Kannan got through after 2 minutes, but the keeper deflected his shot and a defender took care of the rebound. Grilled fans held their breath as Kalki Parvathaneni gallivanted down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and fired home the go-ahead goal for 1 - 0! The home team thought they were lucky after a brilliant strike from the right bounced off the crossbar 22 minutes in. Christiano Trobbianni was first to react though, and leveled the game at 1 - 1. Grilled were very close to putting themselves one up with 24 minutes gone as Chu Xin Lee got through on the left, but a lapse in concentration sent the ball wide. Halftime score was 1 - 1. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that Grilled would have 57 percent possession in this half was spot on!

With 51 minutes played Bhavya Panigrahi almost put the home team one ahead on a cross coming in from the right, but the shot went just wide. 69 minutes had elapsed when a great chance for Grilled to take the lead after a good ball from the right found Vikram Mudaliar alone with the keeper, but he chipped it to the wrong side of the post. Slack defending gave Grilled a chance to take the lead with 72 minutes played, but Shekar Kannan's cross from the left flank was met gratefully by the opposition who cleared it to safety. As the 75 minute mark approached, the Grilled manager decided it was time for a substitution. Vikram Mudaliar reluctantly made way for Abd Hadi Taib Mazhud. Big paper red cards were being held up by the opposing supporters with 76 minutes on the clock after Shekar Kannan's mistimed tackle from behind. The referee only showed the Grilled player a yellow card though. Grilled created a good opportunity to score 80 minutes into the game when Chan Ze Han's hooked ball from the left created a scuffle in front of the goal, but the visitors' defenders eventually won out. Grilled had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle instead. Chu Xin Lee is making an astonishing dash. The fans are chanting his name. You can hear it reverberate around the stadium. Now a manic sprint up the middle and into the box. Oh! He's thrown open the door! He's thrown open the door, shot the ball through, and slammed the door shut on Mr. Tumnus! Grilled has taken the lead 83 minutes into the match, 2 to 1. There'll be no Turkish Delight after the match for the keeper! With the clock showing 89 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board. Teo Chuan Yong looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for Bilal Mohammad Harun, though he would have liked to continue. 89 minutes into the match, the referee signaled for a Grilled substitution. Gilbert Webb came on for Douglas Carapaica. It was announced by the fourth official that he estimated stoppage time to be around 1 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! The match ends 2 - 1. Grilled did a good job holding on to the ball, with 56 percent of possession. We'll be back after these interminable commercial messages.

Grilled's top performer was clearly Chan Ze Han. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because Bilal Mohammad Harun seemed to stumble all over the pitch. Most important Srebrenica player was Christiano Trobbianni. Speaking of stinking up the place, Jakob Frank sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham.
