Grilled 6 - 3 Boscar

The weather was pretty good at the stadium today for the match. The following players took the field: Salmiņš - Panigrahi, Webb - Kannan, Chuan Yong, Mazhud, Xin Lee, Dong Chu - Ze Han, Mudaliar, Xin Seng.

Starters: Lianas - Alefounder, Leinwetter, Larini - Vigliotti, Behdad, García, Yanchev, Schleevogt - Starostenko, Steynitz.

The teams had chosen different formations for the match. The home team, Grilled Birds, went for a 2-5-3, while Boscar A.S.D. has decided to play a 3-5-2 lineup. It was an obvious ambition of Boscar to play a wide game with their divine (20) ability to attack down the wings. The bleachers were silenced after 22 minutes when Boscar's Pavel Starostenko put the guests ahead 0 - 1, following an attack on the right. After 25 minutes of play, Heng Dong Chu evened things up for Grilled with an impressive goal coming up the middle. 1 - 1. 28 minutes had elapsed when a great chance for Grilled to take the lead after a good ball from the right found Chan Ze Han alone with the keeper, but he chipped it to the wrong side of the post. The referee showed Grilled's Bhavya Panigrahi the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. The Boscar free kick 34 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But it was no mistake - Yannik Steynitz seemingly came out of nowhere and had miles of space to control the ball and pick his spot. That's 1 - 2! 38 minutes into the game, Bhavya Panigrahi came close to leveling the score with a dangerous shot from the center of the area that went just over the bar. 39 minutes into the match, Grilled's Chu Xin Lee maneuvered his way around the opposition on the left flank, delighting the crowd with his twists and turns. The effort paid off as the ball found the back of the net, evening the score at 2 - 2. Vikram Mudaliar is making an astonishing dash. The fans are chanting his name. You can hear it reverberate around the stadium. Now a manic sprint up the middle and into the box. Oh! He's thrown open the door! He's thrown open the door, shot the ball through, and slammed the door shut on Mr. Tumnus! Grilled has taken the lead 40 minutes into the match, 3 to 2. There'll be no Turkish Delight after the match for the keeper! It was 3 - 2 at the break. Well, look at this! Cardi B is on the Enormotron in naught but giant sunglasses, red tassles, and a Holy Hand Grenades of Antioch tank top. I've not seen anything like it before. With the clock showing 46 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board. Heng Dong Chu looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for Kalki Parvathaneni, though he would have liked to continue. After 46 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the field, waving Teo Chuan Yong off. Salah Kamel took his place. Players in Boscar heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their central attacks to the wings instead. The home team thought they were lucky after a brilliant strike from the right bounced off the crossbar 61 minutes in. Pavel Starostenko was first to react though, and leveled the game at 3 - 3. Chan Ze Han gave Grilled the 4 - 3 lead, as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then placed the ball at the keeper's right post – what a clinical finish! The home side's Bhavya Panigrahi twisted a free kick home with 69 minutes played, putting Grilled ahead 5 - 3. Everyone had expected a shot from the free kick 80 minutes into the game, but Grilled sent the ball sideways instead, giving Abd Hadi Taib Mazhud a clear look at goal with no wall in his way. He sent it through the keeper's legs for 6 - 3! The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 3 beyond the regular 90 minutes. The match ends 6 - 3. Grilled had the upper hand in possession, maintaining an impressive 61 percent possession of the ball.

Chan Ze Han performed admirably for Grilled. I can't remember Gilbert Webb ever having a worse night than he just had. The most outstanding Boscar player was without a doubt Pavel Starostenko. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by Corrado Lianas today.
