Team Boba started the game in a 4-3-3 formation, whereas Grilled Birds lined up in a 2-5-3 formation. For their match strategy, TB had decided to use their outstanding (10) ability to counter-attack whenever possible. Grilled seemed to prefer attacking in the middle, taking advantage of their divine (+4) (24) level with that tactic.
Chu Xin Lee had a good opportunity to give Grilled the lead as he charged down the right and struck the ball towards the top corner, but the home team's goalkeeper made the save. TB's defence sent a ball soaring up the middle on a beautiful counterattack with 4 minutes gone, but
Brett Lim's finish was met by the reaching hands of the keeper. The guests took the lead 10 minutes into the match, after a right-side attack resulted in
Kalki Parvathaneni scoring to make it 0 - 1. Grilled came close to extending their lead as
Chu Xin Lee delivered a low effort on goal from the right after 19 minutes, but the angle was too narrow and the shot went harmlessly into the side netting. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
Toh Yau Kim from TB a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 31 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! With 33 minutes played, Grilled's well-worked indirect free kick caused havoc in the penalty area, and when the ball eventually fell to
Sølve Lunde he gleefully slotted the ball home to make it 0 - 2. With 38 minutes played,
Chan Ze Han nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar. 0 - 2 was the halftime score. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 78 percent of the time.
After 46 minutes, the TB coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
Toh Yau Kim off the field.
Luděk Cenek took his place.
Bertoldo Lim would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise.
Bastian Lim entered the game for TB as the match clock showed 46 minutes. After 49 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave
Chu Xin Lee a chance to increase the lead for Grilled, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 3. A penalty was awarded after 61 minutes, and
Bhavya Panigrahi made the most of his chance to put Grilled up by another goal. 0 - 4 for the visitors. After 64 minutes of game time,
Chu Xin Lee had an excellent opportunity to add to the visitors' lead, clipping a volley hooked in from the right, but
Imam Rahmi was in the right place and tipped the ball over for a corner. TB almost scored after a swift counterattack 67 minutes into the game, but
Benjamin Lim put the shot from the left flank just outside the goal. Grilled's
Bhavya Panigrahi was shown a yellow card after 68 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
As the 70 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution.
Heng Dong Chu reluctantly made way for
Teo Chuan Yong on the pitch. The coach of Grilled was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 88 minutes,
Radovan Jaška came on for
Abd Hadi Taib Mazhud. 89 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a TB substitution.
Arsenio Serrat came on for
Carlos Lara Martínez. It was announced by the referee that he estimated stoppage time to be around 1 minute. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! After 89 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for
Radovan Jaška who increased Grilled's lead to 0 - 5. The match ends 0 - 5. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 79 percent.
TB's best player was
Bastian Lim.
Robert Marinescu was a disappointment, however. The most dominating Grilled player was without a doubt
Vikram Mudaliar. However,
Radovan Jaška made a disastrous appearance.
