The teams stopped and stared at each other - it was like they were looking in a mirror, since they both lined up in a 2-5-3 formation. Grilled went for a narrow approach, using their divine (+5) (25) ability to focus their attacks down the middle.
Melvin Rodkvist gave Rölanda the 1 - 0 lead, as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then placed the ball at the keeper's right post – what a clinical finish! 37 minutes into the game Grilled's
Kalki Parvathaneni found a gap in the home side's central defense and scored with a fabulous shot, making it 1 - 1. Rölanda took the lead 41 minutes in, as
Nestor Lewsten broke through on the left and put his shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper, bringing the score to 2 - 1. It was 2 - 1 at the break. Grilled set the tempo, maintaining 51 percent of possession.
After 46 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the field, waving
Teo Chuan Yong off.
Salah Kamel took his place. With
Teo Chuan Yong no longer on the field,
Bilal Mohammad Harun was the new set pieces taker. The visiting team's
Chan Ze Han was able to score the 2 - 2 equalizer with a header 48 minutes in, after some good work on the right. With the clock showing 70 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board.
Sølve Lunde looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for
Gilbert Webb, though he would have liked to continue.
Sten-Sture Nilsson's name was chanted throughout the stadium after his goal in minute 82 following a run up the middle gave Rölanda the 3 - 2 lead. After a play down the right 83 minutes into the match, Rölanda's
Mattias Cederlind unleashed a ferocious shot that smashed into the roof of the net - after going over the crossbar. Rölanda managed to extend their lead to 4 - 2 when
Melvin Rodkvist slid in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. 88 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defense had to look on as
Calle Gillstedt ran straight through, knocking one home to make it 5 - 2 for Rölanda. With 89 minutes played, Grilled showed they hadn't given up and were able to reduce the score to 5 - 3 when
Chan Ze Han got past the home side's central defenders right in front of the goal. It was announced by the fourth official that he estimated stoppage time to be around 2 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! The match ends 5 - 3. This part of the game was a standoff between the teams as far as possession.
Rölanda's best player was
Calle Gillstedt. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because
Alfred Hiebler seemed to stumble all over the pitch. Most important Grilled player was
Chan Ze Han. Speaking of stinking up the place,
Kalki Parvathaneni sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham.
