It was a scorching day at the stadium today. The intense heat made it hard for players relying on strength or speed to shine. On the other hand, it provided perfect conditions for the more technical players. They fielded: Lachowicz - Imbullusqueta, Zaru, Elia, Mettke - Heller, Fallón, Abaitua, Escobar, Sepeng - Iríbar.

It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 4-5-1 formation while the visitors instead opted for a 2-5-3. Grilled went for a narrow approach, using their divine (+6) (26) ability to focus their attacks down the middle. After 17 minutes, a penalty kick by Gilbert Webb could have resulted in the lead for the visitors, but the keeper made the save. 20 minutes into the game, DestajadoresUC seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a passable (6) level of organization. 0 - 1 was the score after 21 minutes, when Grilled's Douglas Carapaica cut through the central defense and pounded one in. The home fans looked somber as they watched their team give up another goal, this one coming from their right as Bilal Mohammad Harun put one through the keeper's legs. 0 - 2 after 28 minutes. Chan Ze Han of Grilled displayed some of his fantastic technical abilities when he brought the ball down neatly using his instep before megging the bewildered Jesús Imbullusqueta and smashing an unstoppable shot past the goalkeeper to make it 0 - 3. 39 minutes into the match, Bilal Mohammad Harun came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide. After 41 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for Chu Xin Lee who increased Grilled's lead to 0 - 4. Grilled players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. The ball was in the back of the home team's net yet again after 44 minutes, but this time the referee called the goal back because Chan Ze Han had knocked a member of the opposing team to the ground while the play occurred down the middle of the field. Halftime score was 0 - 4. Grilled had the upper hand in possession, maintaining an impressive 74 percent possession of the ball.

A review of the gameplan helped DestajadoresUC get back to a solid (7) organization to start the second half. 46 minutes into the match, the referee signaled for a Grilled substitution. Kalki Parvathaneni came on for Salah Kamel. 46 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Bernie Egan gave Vikram Mudaliar a quick hug as he left the field. Vikram Mudaliar was, after 59 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the center, but the home side's keeper Dawid Lachowicz made the save. 75 minutes in, DestajadoresUC appeared unsure on how to play and their organization was only inadequate (5). Maybe it was because of his team's lead, or maybe it was due to the ease with which he broke down the left, but Chan Ze Han was a bit too sure of his talents, so instead of taking the easy tap-in goal after 79 minutes, he went for the backheel, which he put woefully wide. With the scoreboard showing that 84 minutes had been played, Grilled nearly put themselves up another goal after Vikram Mudaliar came through on the left. Fortunately for the home crowd, the keeper made the save. The fourth official announced that there would be 2 minutes of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. There was a promising attack by Grilled after 90 minutes, but it was ultimately closed down by the powerful presence of Añaterve Fallón. The match ends 0 - 4. Grilled set the tempo, maintaining 74 percent of possession.

DestajadoresUC's top performer was clearly Giovanni Zaru. I can't remember Theobald Abaitua ever having a worse night than he just had. The most outstanding Grilled player was without a doubt Chan Ze Han. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because Kalki Parvathaneni seemed to stumble all over the pitch.
