Grilled 3 - 4 Felix2006

The spectators at the stadium today were in for an afternoon of sunshine. The intense heat made it hard for players relying on strength or speed to shine. On the other hand, it provided perfect conditions for the more technical players. Lineup: Salmiņš - Lunde, Jeftić - ter Berg, Mohammad Harun, Xin Lee, Chuan Yong, Kamel - Mudaliar, Ze Han, Parvathaneni.

Starters: Mkuchika - Lehto, Chikava, Martos - Rwilomba, Almaev, Zemerov, Trandin, Yañez - Kosobryukhov, Makarikov.

Grilled Birds fielded a 2-5-3 lineup. For Felix2006, the formation of choice was a 3-5-2. Grilled used their divine (+7) (27) ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the field. The bleachers were silenced after 16 minutes when Felix2006's Valentin Zemerov put the guests ahead 0 - 1, following an attack on the right. After 22 minutes Grilled were able to score the equalizing 1 - 1 goal when Chan Ze Han picked up a pass coming in from the right and lofted it past the away team's keeper. Felix2006's Valeriy Kosobryukhov proved that he's been around on a soccer field before, when he took advantage of a few moments of confusion in the enemy defensive line and elegantly scored for 1 - 2. Salah Kamel was just a finger's width away from an equalizer for Grilled with a strike from the left, but Ferdinand Mkuchika managed to deflect the shot out for a corner. Grilled's Salah Kamel put his head on a fantastic ball lifted in from the left, and scored after 40 minutes to bring the teams level - 2 - 2. Halftime score was 2 - 2. Well, look at this! Cardi B is on the Enormotron in naught but giant sunglasses, red tassles, and a Holy Hand Grenades of Antioch tank top. I've not seen anything like it before. Some good play on the left wing created an opportunity for the visitors 55 minutes into the match, and Valentin Zemerov wasn't about to waste it. He got past the defenders and fired a shot that the keeper just missed. 2 - 3 for the visitors. Nikolay Makarikov increased the visitors' lead by volleying in a pass from the right. 2 - 4. With the clock showing 70 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board. Sølve Lunde looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for Gilbert Webb, though he would have liked to continue. Grilled's Kalki Parvathaneni found himself alone on the left side 74 minutes into the match and launched a marshmallow of a shot - right into the arms of the keeper. What a turkey! The away team's fans are gobbling it up! 80 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Teo Chuan Yong gave Bernie Egan a quick hug as he left the field. As the 80 minute mark approached, the Grilled manager decided it was time for a substitution. Salah Kamel reluctantly made way for Heng Dong Chu. Given a free kick from a ways out after 83 minutes, Grilled sent an arching ball into the penalty box. It was headed clear, but Bernie Egan was waiting just outside the area and fired it home to make it 3 - 4. As the match nears its end, the referee deemed it appropriate to add 3 minutes as stoppage time. The match ends 3 - 4. Grilled did a good job holding on to the ball, with 55 percent of possession. We'll be back after these interminable commercial messages.

Most important Grilled player was Chan Ze Han. Speaking of stinking up the place, Gilbert Webb sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham. Valentin Zemerov performed admirably for Felix2006. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by Tsezari Chikava today.
